Thumbs up Real or Fake

Hello all, I would like your opinion on this PF63 filter that I purchased from a verified vendor on ebay, it was listed as NOS, and the packaging seems correct, however it is a bit smaller than the new one I purchased a few months back. Any comments would be greatly appriciated.

filter purchased from ebay NOS

left ebay NOS, right new walmart

left ebay, right new

Imagine the disappointment of the first 2.1 million people that are going to click on the link to this thread and find a picture of an oil filter.

Imagine my disappointment after reading your answer. The problem is I did not purchase one filter, I purchased these in bulk of 10 for $70. Please people, I need your help, no nonsense answers, I have a 10 day window of return. These filters are for my 2013 Yukon with a 6.2L LS2 engine.

Its a fake. I worked at a GM dealer for years. the silver ring is the giveaway. OE filters are all blue.
If you see one on a car with a red label, it s the "factory" filter and has never been changed.

thank you so much for your reply. Based on this sir, I contacted the seller on eBay and he immediately refunded me my $70 and apologized saying he did not know they were fake. He does not want the product back because he cannot sell them, he asked me to dispose of the filters which I am going to do

I've seen/heard of this before with the higher end, more expensive filters (like Mobil 1), but not the basic ones like AC Delco.

I get AC Delco oil filters for my daily driver (2.4L Malibu) at Walmart; they are made in USA by Hengst. They are noticeably cheaper than an M1 filter.

Did a little more research and found that the authentic filters have a stamp on the bottom with a date code, filter number and "MADE IN USA". None of the eBay filters had this.
Thanks again to all great board with knowledgeable people.

Before you throw them away... might as well cut one open and show everybody what's inside. Could be used for comparison to AC Delco filter.

WOOOOO! FREE OIL FILTERS!

Seriously though, they might still be usable. What I would do next is cut one open and dissect it, then post your results on bobistheoilguy.com. Those guys could probably tell you where it was made, and if it is safe to use (YES, a bad oil filter can harm your engine).

EDIT: I just read the above post.

Really, man? You just threw them away?

No, worse. He drove to a hazmat disposal center with a box of new filters that are safer to lick than the cafeteria napkins at work LOL!

Hazmat disposal center? For an unused oil filter?

Seems akin to installing seat belts on the living room sofa, just for good measure.

What would you do if you got home to find you bought the wrong brand toilet paper?
