you can't get in there with a filter wrench? One of my friends always used to shove a screw driver through oil filters and then turn them with that but I wouldn't recommend it.

I use the K&N filter with the nut on it too. Works like a charm and comes off in no time. If you get the long version it will be even easier to get off but the nut will hang below the skid plate and pan which can create a problem if you ever bottom out real bad.

The "end cap" oil filter wrenches are good for loosening oil filters in tight locations. We can buy them at any store that sells oil.
Here is one type that is adjustable. As we turn it the "claws" grab the oil filter tighter.
Here is another type that is not adjustable. It would be good for us when we always use the same brand/size oil filter. At the store take a new oil filter for your car out of the box and find the correctly sized wrench.
Usually we use a 3/8 inch socket wrench with these end cap oil filter wrenches. Note that some (such as the one pictured above) have a larger hexagon "nut" on them and we can use a socket on our socket wrench to fit over this nut for more leverage.
Don't use tools when tightening the new oil filter!
