window motors on ebay?
Just wondering if anyone has gotten any window motors from any ebay sellers that they could recomend? My drivers side just crapped out on me, and I need to get a replacement but dont want to spend tons of money. Also what do they cost from AutoZone, or other parts stores?
Thanks

on Ebay Motors. I won with a bid of 39.95.
Item was new and works fine. What a PITA to install though.
for my 2000 Z28.

BTW, replacing the motor is easy.

Also, the doors are made of plastic so when you are drilling out the first rivets, be careful not to push through and create larger holes. Replacing this motor is not easy. It's painstaking even if you know what your doing. I'd rather have the guy be safe than trying to beat your 1 hour installation time.
What are you talking about?
They dont leave anything out.
You dont need to remove the actuator.
In fact, that just makes the whole process much more difficult.
Did you actually read the instructions?
Based on your comments, I'd say that you didn't.
Here is a basic break down of the write-ups:
(Read the actual write-ups for better detail and pictures)
* Remove the door panel and inner clear plastic weather gaurd
* Unplug and remove the speakers
* Unplug the window motor
* Drill holes in inner door to expose the rivits that hold the motor to the bracket.
* Drill out the three rivits that hold the motor to the bracket and it falls off.
* Place some grease on the gear of the new motor and some on the actuator.
* Position the new motor in place of the old one and use the supplied nuts and bolts to attach it to the bracket. The bolts go through the holes in the bracket that where being used by the rivits that were drilled out.
* Plug in the motor
* Replace and plug in the speakers
* Replace the clear plastic water barrier and the the door panel
Where does it say to remove the actuator? Nothing is left out. That is all you need to do to replace the window motor. I did it last month.

I followed those same instructions on my 98 Z28 a while back, and it worked great. Took about 2 hours
of course that was likely me being cautious and taking a few breaks for water (it was hot in the garage that day). Yes, you can lose a finger if you dont use common sense, and have a plan. Best of luck to all replacing their motors, I might have to do the SS in a few months , the passenger side is a little slow.
Cheers

Thanks for the help fellas, Im gonna get a motor and try to do it a few weeks. The only problem is I have to do my plugs, wires, msd window switch, and window motor....and I dont have a garage...plus its cold out now. I neeed a garage
I paid $59 for a motor from Advance/Discount, it has a lifetime warranty. I followed the instructions here: http://shbox.com/page/windowmotor.html - and it took me about an hour and a half total. It was NOT hard at all. Just a FYI... those instructions say you need to have the window all the way up when you replace the motor. I left my window all the way down and it was fine... might save you some time.
