"Best" oil and transmission fluid, 2002 LS1
2002 LS1, turning it over for the first time in several months. It's rather cold out, and there's snow on the ground. Both the engine and the transmission are dry. Cooling system empty as well.
After hearing all kinds of bad things about dexcool, I'm wondering if I can do a cooling system flush (not sure how to do that) and then run regular coolant.
Also, I don't know what good fluid there is for the transmision, or what kind of oil i should run. I'm guessing any standard **** filter would probably work, but I'd kind of like confirmation on that too.
Thanks.

Dexcool for the radiator, Mobil 1 5W40 or German Castrol( 0W30) for the motor, and either Syncromesh from GM or Penzoil for the tranny.( Many use Dexron III ATF which is recomended for the tranny. Non-synthetic if your car is pre 2001.)

Coolant, Stick with Dexcool for an LS1, IMO.
Lots of options on oil. Try a search, they'll be more reading then you ever wanted to see.
Trans fluid, stick with any NON-synthetic DexIII for a 4L60E (auto). For a T56 6-speed, I have no clue what those guys like to use in the way of fluid.
