Question misfire??

I washed and waxed the car today and afterwards I went for a drive. I noticed that I was real low on gas so I headed to fill up. Suddenly the car began to miss really bad, seemed like it was about to die and the service engine soon light popped on. I limped it to the gas station down the street shut it off and filled her up. I let it sit for a few minutes and checked the plugs and wires...everything seemed alight. I started it back up and headed back to my apt. The SES light stayed on, then bagan to flash. It came on solid again and began to run fine. Since it was running ok I decided to go to Autozone to get the codes read. One was a bad o2 sensor and the other was for a randomn misfire. I'm not worried about the bad o2, I think my LT's probably caused that. Last time my o2's went out though, the SES light just came on...the car didn't misfire or anything like that. I'm just wondering if a bad o2 could cause the randomn misfire or if my prob is worse. I have new o2's but I'm waiting on extensions (I spliced the o2's last time and I think that is why they went out so quickly). Sorry for the novel, just tried to get all the info in that was needed.

Any thoughts???

gas was pretty low...the manual says a flashing ses light can be casued from low fuel with air getting into the system. i drove it around a bit after filling up so what else do i need to do if that was the problem?? thanks for the quick repsonses guys.

if ur getting a DTC for an O2 dont blow it off. the O2 is one of the most important sensors u have. it could most definately be the cause of a misfire. the O2 could be sending incorrect LTFTs or STFTs causing this misfire. i suggest u get new O2's. some manufacturers say to replace all of them instead of the faulty one, others say its ok to replace just the one but im not sure about GM. and bank one is on the same side as cylinder 1 and bank 2 on cylinder 2 side. im assuming u know which is which ha ha.

yeah, i'm definitly not blowing it off. i've got extensions on the way, with new o2's sitting in my garage with the car waiting to be put on. hope it's the bad o2 that is causing the misfire. code said passenger o2, but i'm going to replace both fronts. thanks for the input syxx...i'll keep yall posted, hopefully with good news.

i doubt it is even a misfire as much as a bad 02. I had the same issue. I pulled codes 135 and 155 with a scanner. I am also running 02 simms as well down low.
Time to put in that new sensor. You didnt run with open headers for an extended amount of time did you?

Well, I finally had some time to work on the car last week. I replaced the front o2s (used extensions this time rather than splicing the sensors) and the misfire went away! Driving it the other day to the store my ses light shut off, so I'm back in business. Also, while I was down there I fixed an exhaust leak at the collectors. Just wanted to say thanks for all the help/suggestions guys!
