Default Pontiac Headlight Motors Inop... HELP PLZ

I read the headlight fix website in detail but I have some questions that I need answered. I just bought the car and my drivers side headlight motor is not working at all. Somebody attached wires around the white connecter thingy (yea I know sorry) to bypass it. The passenger side would not raise and lower completely as well. I removed the motor from the drivers side and did the quick 180 fix on the passenger side which made that side work properly. I thought I could then test the drivers side motor to see if it worked at all. Big Mistake. It didn't work and when I reattached the passenger side to the white connector, it doesn't raise and lower anymore.

I do not have a fuse diagram but I checked the fuses by the drivers side door and underneath the hood behind the drivers side headlight and none of them seem to be blown. What is my next step? And what/where is a switch?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Did you pull apart the 5 pin connector at all. Just 3 days ago my drive side would notgo up or down anymore and so I took everything apart and then pulled the connector apart and saw that the 2 wires for the motor were pretty much rusted through and I could see that it had been arching for a while just to make the motors work. That is prolly why on of them was bypassed. but check those connectors. Also the fuses for the motors is under the hood in the fuse box closest to the windshield open it up and in the back row of fuses you will see 3 15 ampfuses I think, the 2 closest to the driver side 1/4 panel are the ones for the motor. Let me know how it goes.

PM me if it does not work and we can go from there. I do not check this forum too often.

Apparently this is fried on my bird - 1996. Is this known by any other name? I want to order one but I can't really find this.

Default More headlight problems

I got my headlight motors to at least work but now I am having a strange problem. One light goes up while the other one goes down. The passenger side light seems to be on the right cycle (up when on, down when off) but the drivers side is doing the same thing. Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong?

a similar thing happened to me- one headlight went up and the other just stayed down- so i manually turned the crank until it was up with the other one and then they both have gone up and down together sice. you could try that - good luck

Thanks for the help but mine doesn't stay down. My drivers side headlight goes up and down opposite of my passenger side.

How many different threads are you going to start on this subject and in how many different forums? I merged three different threads in the Pontiac Firebird forum: https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=446693

1 Thread per problem on any forum. This thread was started because of the problem that no one had any ideas how to fix it in the firebird forum.

Well all the threads have revolved around your headlight problems. That can all be combined into one thread. If it didn't get answered in the Firebird Forum, then it probably won't get answered anywhere else.
