Default AC Delco PF52

I bought an AC Delco PF52 thinking it was what I had been using (PF58). I even compared the PF52 to a PF44 and it looked identical, except longer. Can I use this filter with my car?

Thanks Patman, that's what I was afraid of. I have to return it and get the right filter.

I just got my oil changed and got the wrong filter(pf47). The guy put a Frem filter on it for free. What do you all think I should do......Leave it on or buy 6 more quarts and an ACDELCO filter?

You don't need to change the oil again. Just pull off that Fram and put on another filter. You'll only lose 1/2 quart of oil at the very most.

You lose a little bit more . . . have a pan underneath or you'll have a cleanup on your hands. I change my filter between real oil changes . . . wouldn't hurt to put a 1,000 miles on it before, though . . . sorry, I really don't believe they're that different <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

i got a fram on my new motor now and i was told to use only acdelco on it. a buddy told me on his race motor, they changed from a fram to a ac filter and picked up 7 psi of oil pressure.

guess i will be staying away from the frams

No, this filter is for the 3.8 GM engines. While the dimensions of it are the same, the connection size of the thread is slightly different. It might just squeak on there, but that slight difference could cause the filter to come off. Not worth taking a chance, get the correct filter.
