he ment it dosent have anything to do with the thickness of the oil. 0W30 is no thinner or thicker than 10W30. however GC runs a little thicker tha M1 and its counterparts.

the 0 is a cold flow-rating. Nothing more. It isnt a "measure of protection".

GC 0W30

type that in the search box and enjoy. you will find numerous threads for and against GC 0W30. make your own mind up about it. i have had nothig but success with it. my engine went from a monotonous subtle tick to a smooth purr. but this thread is not to turn into a nother oil debate. so im stopping here.

my conclusion, i am happy with seafoam and 110 percent excellent write up by choco. tomorrow i am changing my oil. yes i put 100 miles on my car in 2 days

yes, this is basically what i meant. your engine will only see this cold flow rating for a minute or two of idle. after a minute of the engine running, it warms up enough to where it doesn't matter. really, IMO, there's no reason not to run a 0 weight oil. 0W-40, 5W-40, 10W-40, they're both the same at operating temps, assuming the same base oil and formula. this isn't ALWAYS true, for instance, mobil 1 5W-40 is very different from 0W-40. the 5W-40 is a much better oil. i have 6 cases sitting on my shelf for the next oil change. i'm gonna send the GC 0W-30 away to be analyzed and try the mobil 1 turbo diesel 5W-40. i hear good things about it. i'll tell you what, a quart of mobil 1 5W-40 is literally about HALF the weight of a quart of GC 0W-30 i should at least see some better mileage on it. GC's known to take away 1-2 mpg since it's so heavy.

Seafoamed my car last weekend for the first time...I was pretty hesitant about doing it at first but 17 pages of post can't be wrong. It went very successful! My situation did differ from Choco write up though... when my vaccum line was unplugged and started my engine my rpm's weren't high, in fact my car felt like it wanted to die and when I pouring in the seafoam is when my engine was revving high. Anywho, took it on the highway after letting soak in and opened her up and I think I added another hole in the ozone, it was pretty fun. Car is running grrrreat now.

Interesting how I read this after changing spark plugs and O2 sensors at ~61k miles. Thinking about doing it anyway, foul be damned. Should this clear up the carbon deposits the car is leaving on my garage floor every cold start?

Also should you change the oil after the top end step? Reason being I recently changed my oil but i want to do the injector cleaning step and top end step, then wait until about 200 miles before next oil change to do the oil cleaning step.

just wait and do it all at once. i put cheapo conventional in when i did the seafoam in the crankcase, ran it 100 miles and changed it yesterday. so far i have noticed a difference in throttle response and gas mileage. i got 120 miles on 1/4 tank. do it all at once.

Just did this and love the results. My car idles much better now, and the writeup was great. I got the same result as PassoutWilly, the car didn't really idle high with the vacuum line open, and the car started revving high when as i slowly poured in the Seafoam. I didn't see much smoke at first, but when i let loose on the road, the car kinda hesitated at first, i looked in my rear view mirror, and all i saw was smoke!

i had no problem so far, i used double the amounts suggested. it threw 2 codes, misfire and some generator code ive never seen before, but i reset them and its running fine.

i changed the oil for 50miles, then i re did it and am going to change it after another 100. im considereing doing the booster intake cleaning 1 more time.

i think i can tell improvement in the throttle response

How did you reset the codes? Just unplug the battery?

unhook the negative battery terminal, let it sit for 10 minutes, reconnect the negative battery terminal.
