I went to do this about 2 weeks ago and when I took the brake booster line off, I started it up and it felt like it was going to die. I was expecting the RPMs to be real high from the vacuum leak but they were actually under idle and it tried to stall a couple times. I shut it off after about 10 seconds.

What gives?

Damn son, you got tons of smoke from that treatment. Seems like you should notice a pretty good improvement after that.

few questions. can i seafoam my oil and gas tank and leave the internals for later or should they all be done at the same time? also, im almost due for an oil change. so, can i throw the seafoam in there 100 miles before i do it? or should i seafoam it with fresh oil then do it 100 miles after that?

no, dont do that. get the old oil out first. thatway you have clean oil going in with the seafoam. i just bought some cheap 5W30, off brand and put it in with the seafoam for 100 miles. then took it out and put my GC0W30 back in.

It looks like some people had the same problem I did. I kept having database errors and it didn't show it go to another page so I kept trying to post it because it never showed what I was typing. I was aggrivated.

And the engine is not supposed to idle real low like it's going to die. The brake booster is a large vacuum line. Unhooking the line and starting the car should make the idle very high due to the vacuum leak.

the LS1 seems to want to stall out with the brake booster unattached. it almost sounds like it has a cam. i don't know why it does this, but it does. by contrast, my old 3.4L V6 firebird revved to nearly 3k with the brake booster unattached.

FWIW, i personally see no reason in changing your oil before adding seafoam to it. i see no reason in wasting perfectly good oil like that, even if it's dollar store brand. all the seafoam is doing is cleaning your crank case a bit - getting that old, caked on oil off. the oil you're running even after 5,000 miles is going to be a lot thinner than this sludge. will it clean better if you do it after a fresh oil change? i have no idea, that's anyone's best guess. personally, i'll stick to adding it to my oil before i change it.

Did the top end cleaning this morning. I used a little less than half the can (misjudged it I guess) but I didn't get much smoke. I let it sit for close to 30 minutes before starting it up and taking it for a nice drive. I think I could smell it burning off a bit but I didn't get much smoke at all. While at a stop sign, I revved it up to about 3.5k and saw some smoke but that was the extent of it. I then took it on the highway and drove the ***** off it.. nothing.

I can't imagine I did anything wrong. I guess I'll just wait 10k and try again.

Just means your car was probably pretty clean already.
