Default a/c clutch is gone..

my a/c clutch has been bad for several weeks now but lately my mpg has plummeted and my a/c takes forever to cool off. i was told it was my clutch back 1k miles ago, do you think the compressor could be bad now? its extremely noisy at idle when the a/c is off and then when i turn it on it gets even worse

Just get your clutch replaced. They make a tool to remove it if you want to do it yourself, but I don't know where the find the tool...or a new clutch

puller is a pain with the compressor on the car. New clutch is a GM dealer item; right?

You can rent the tools from AutoZone and probably buy a new clutch as well. It is pretty simple to do.

You don't have to open the system so there is no need for recharge or vacuum, you can buy the clutch tools at napa. it is pretty easy, you just have to make sure you gap the clutch correctly. I did this on my 98 lesabre last year. If you can't find a clutch I may have an extra. My car was making a loud metal scraping noise, is that what yours is doing?
