IS Mobil 1 5w-40 right for me?
When I had my cam swap done at 60k miles my installer switched to M1 0w-40 for the first time on my car. I have been getting a slight ticking noise ever since. Is it worth switching to 5w-40 or 10w40 at this point to see if the ticking will stop? Mods are in sig. TIA

"made in germany" castrol 0W-30 is for you. how do i know? it's for everyone it's the best oil for the LS1. i haven't heard a tick since i switched over. its base oil is far more exotic and superior than anything mobil 1 has to offer. you can find it at autozone for around $5.50 a quart and also, in the general maintenence forum, i have a post regarding an internet site that sells it for 8 bucks a quart, but there's no tax and free shipping to narrow the gap in price.
and if 0W-40 isn't working, 5W-40 won't work any better. it's just as thick at operating temps. only difference is, the 0W-40 will offer better startup protection and work better in the winter.

Is Autozone the only one who carries it?

the larger autozones carry it. the smaller hole-in-the-wall ones usually don't.
or you can check out this thread for an online store that sells it:
