No idea. I got a plastic bag wrapped around my Ypipe on the highway about a month ago. Took me weeks to figure thats what the smell was......and thats only because someone else recognized the smell. It still hasn't burnt off completely.

check ur passenger seats in the rear, it happened to me with cutout that was too close to the car and the heat was causing that burning smell from the paint and the heat soak to the seats,
sounds strange but thats wat it was on my car.

^^^^it could be this bc when i do open up the hood there is no smell there, but i also was thinking it could be the tb bypass mod i did, the clamp could be rubbing on the pulley

I've had the same situation with my car for over three years now with no resolution. I'd swear it's coming from under the hood, but like you, when I pop the hood... nothing. The only thing I can think would cause a rubber burning odor is the serpantine belt heating up from the friction of everything it's spinning against at high speed.

I also ran over a plastic trash bag once; wrapped around my exhaust and is now a permanent part of the pipe.

when my t/a was in the body shop a few weeks ago, i got it back and they hadnt taken all the paper (i guess they taped it up there to label things) off my exhaust ... had to scrape some of that crap off.

Maybe it's one of the cables from an o2 sensor getting close to a pipe and the insulation getting hot. Burning plastic smells like crap.

not sure....i was thinking it could be some of the front steering because when i just drive regular, theres one clank or thud when i turn the car from side to side....im tryn to find out what that is now, but it also could be something buring at a speed
