Could be an aftermarket exhaust/tailpipe hitting. The pipe routes through a pretty tight area back there.

Maybe a broken shock or something. Oh wait!! You know what I've seen about a dozen times? The spare tire loosens up in the stowage compartment, and makes a hidious noise in the right rear over bumps. Check your spare tire! Hurry go check I'll wait here.

Aftermarket torque arm??? Im surprised no one mentioned to look at the floor board above the bracket on the axle... Most of the aftermarket ones use thick metal to mount to the diff...as opposed to the stock thin stamped steel piece. The pieces are also usually wider and beefier all around. The corner of them will hit the floor board...

Im using a Spohn on my 87 TA...and I ended up beating the floor in with a hammer before I even got done with the rear suspension. Mine hits only on the hard bumps now...but has been getting better. Most of the time they clearance themselves.

Just something else to check out!

That sounds completely different than what he described in the first post... He used words like clunk, very loud and annoying, when hitting bumps...

What you are describing sounds like it could be something ehxaust related, that only does it when driving over certain surfaces. Things under a car do funny things when the weight of the car is moving around. Sometimes you can crawl under the car and yank on things with all your might and not hear or see anything. But when the 3500lb car starts moving around on it..you get the noises.

Just check around real good make sure that torque arm isnt hitting anything, and that the two long bolts are good and tight. They have a habit of coming loose.
