on a side question....on the throttle...there are two cables right...? One pulls the blade and the other one is on the side and im not sure what it does...but its held on to the metal throttle thing by a black plastic thing....mine is loose and just comes off easily...it stays on while driving no matter how hard i drive...is this normal? I never noticed until i did my tb bump stop...

EDIT: Searched for a pic...and noticed many dont even have it connected...but here is what im talking about

the black piece...that holds that second wire to the metal throttle piece...

The setting which you currently have it on will measure DC volts, which is what you want. Read the black not red. It is good practice to always start in a setting which excedes the system voltage just to check. Example:

Put it in 50 volt mode. Check to make sure if under 10 volts. Switch to 10 then measure. Polarity will matter with that meter so check which wire you are hooking to which.

Also, a cheap digital meter at a hardware store might cost you 10 dollars if you feel safer using that. Plus, that way you get instructions.

As for the throttle questions. The one on the black clip is the cruise control cable. As long as it doesn't fall off you can leave it alone.

THANKS!! one thing im confused about is how you said something about it will matter which wire?...im touching the red(pos) to the blue wire on the TPS sensor, and the black(neg) to a ground on the frame... and i have it set to dc volts at 10...but it shows little change...maybe i will need a digital one. If i do..are the settings worked the same way? THANKS SO MUCH!

You have it right. But, the TPS voltage on my car varies from .5V to 4.8V so it may be hard to read. The computer confirms 0 to 100% throttle on those voltages.

Digital meters are easier to read.
