Default Knock in the front driver wheel

Okay heres my problem. When i turn the wheel i get a knocking noise. its kinda like a clunk. It kind of feels like the driverside wheel is going to fall off or something. I took the car for an alighnment about 2 months ago and i noticed this about a month ago but last night it was real bad. I would get the noise when ever i turn the wheel. has this happened to anyone or does any one know what it can be??

I kind of have the same noise, however I only get it when I'm backing up and turning sharp... Wish I knew more but I've not looked into it yet.

Check the upper control arm bushings you could have one that has gone bad.

If it only happens when you turn either left or right and doesn't happen when you stear the other direction (ie. it happens when you turn left but not when you turn right). Then it sounds like one of the thrust bearings in the spindle is going bad.

That was the problem on mine not long ago.

You replace the spindle, last spring it cost me $115 at one of the chain discount auto places. I believe GM wanted like $260.

The 115 is just for the component, you will have to do the labor.

How hard is it to replace? What's the process? I don't know a thing about spindles or thrust bearings... yet that is.

Jack her up, take the tire off, remove the caliper - then the rotor. Unbolt the four bolts on the inboard side of the spindle, be sure to unplug the ABS sensor connector wire on the inboard portion of the spindle.

Spindle should slide out easily from the back, then install the new spindle in the same orientation as the one that was removed (female portion of the sensor socket should open towards rear of vehicle), reinstall 4 bolts, sensor connector, torque to speck, replace rotor, caliper, wheel, and lower/remove jack.

Walah...........yer good ta go!
