Default storing tires and wheels

When storing a set of tires with wheels for the winter will they get flat spots if you leave them turned up like they sit on the car? Do you have to lay them flat to prevent flat spots? I know it can happen with them on the car sitting for along period of time. Any help is appreciated.

Modern steel belted radials don't flat spot nearly as easy as the old bias ply tires did.

I've kept my various F-bodies sitting in winter storage on their normal tires every winter for the last 9 years. I always pump them up to max psi rating of the tire prior to storage. I've never had any flatspotting issues.

i have mine stacked like VIP1 but if they have full pressure i dont think you will have to worry about any flatspots.

So you all mostly lay them flat and stack them. I have mine turned up like they run on the car because it takes less room because I have a narrow room. Do you think they will be okay like that? They are Goodyear F1 tires and have some age on them.

How could that possibly take up less room?
Stacking all 4 in one column would take a lot less room than standing them individually next to each other.

I don't have but about 15 inches from the wall from where my car sits. Anyway what I need to know is if they will get flatspots from leaving them like that. thanks.

I can't see how this could happen. The older tires, when under a load (on the car) could get this. But when it is not on a car, how could it get a flat spot? I do store mine laying flat, but have also stored them standing up. And I have never felt a flat spot. This is over the period of 10+ years.

yeah unless the rims are on the car(no load on the rim/tires), you should be fine either way you store em. But really stackin them is the best way (for space and to avoid excessive rolling!)

Any way you put them, they will be fine.

They will also be fine if you leave them on the car, inflate to max PSI, and forget about it till spring. That's what I do every winter, never had a flatspot.

I did that for the first time this year(inflating to full psi), worked 100% perfect, car didnt have any flat spotting which means no hour long drive on the highway to get em out(like I usually have to!)
