Random misfire return
Well I get a call and they are Dynoing today for $30 for two runs. I was like great I want to see what the Camaro lays down. I start it up and its running like crap, surging... I give it some gas and keep it around 1000rpms. Take off down the road when it settled and it started surging, SES flashes.. CRAP...
Well took it to my buddies dads shop and has this sweeeet Mac Tools Diagnostics computer the size of a car charger, digital screen and stuff. Says I am misfiring on 5,6,7... He said it has to be plugs by the pattern it was doing it. So I am changing my plugs tomorrow, NGK TR55's??? First time changing plugs on a LS1. Did plenty of them on a Vortec 350...

Have fun. Drivers side is pretty easy. On the Pass. side, if you have AIR, remove that metal tube. Then take off a few ignition coils from that side and it makes the job much, much easier.

So far I got the drivers side done, and on the pass. i took the coil bracket assem off, makes it 120% easier, REALLY this isn't as hard as what ppl proclaim it to be... But could be im pretty mechanically inclined. lol
I got NGK TR55 Irdiums, set me back 60 bux .. Their gapped @ .055 and in my owners manual it says .060, then i read on here ppl say .044-.050... wtf should i set them?

Well I guess that wasn't my problem. I took it out last night and it ran HORRIBLE... Misfiring, backfiring... SES flashing. Somethings f'ed up bad. I guess I will replace the wires next... After that I really don't know.

I would love to know if you ever solve this. I have the same exact problem. I have changed just about everything; plugs, wires, fuel pump, O2 sensors. And it still does that crap. I had a guy tell me he thought it was a coil pack. Another guy tell me that I needed a tune because I have a bunch of mods with a stock tune. So best of luck to ya

Ya its pissing me off. I wonder if there is a way to test the coils??/ There a bit expensive to just go replacing just stabbing in the dark hoping its the problem lol

The SIMS are just to fake the computer to make it think that there are still CATS on the car. You don't need them if you delete the rears through tuning. The 02s that people are talking about are the front ones off the headers/manifolds, those are the ones that are important to have and make sure are working correctly.

We had a Trans-Am that was having random mis-fires about three and a half years ago that drove us nuts. It turned out to be the valvesprings. We took them out and set them on a piece of glass, and they were all at different heights. This was on an internally stock engine with 30,000 miles on it. Bob
