Ok this is the best I've found. http://www.ls1gto.com/forums/showthread.php?p=3087910

sucks that my engine is already in the car. PITA. any thoughts on this? Is it really needed to avoid a spun bearing?

Im not sure if its absolutely need but I would recomend it. You might also get a better response in the internal engine section.

maybe, if a mod feels like it should be moved to the internal section feel free. I won't start a new thread until I know this one isnt going to be moved. Thanks all.

On a side note I called the guys I got the engine from and they said to just check the fluids and start it. "HAHA ok you got it, BAM you owe me an engine." lol

I have heard of putting a teaspoon or so of regular motor oil down each spark plug hole(but thats generally done BEFORE the engine sits rather than just before it gets started), that wont really help the bearings, but might add a slight bit more piece of mind

Pull the spark plugs out and cranf it for about 20 seconds. It should spin fast enough to create some decent pressure and prime the system.
