Default Damn Passenger Window is Stuck Down!

Hey guys, I just bought a 1999 Trans am that just rolled 100k miles. The former owner said he had replaced the passenger side window motor pretty recently. Well the windows have been working fine and literally not even a day after I brought the car home, I put the windows down, parked in my garage, and drove over to a buddy's house. When I get there, the god damn passenger side window wont do anything. Neither door switch does anything. Drivers side window works just fine, but passenger side does nothing and is stuck half down. Any ideas? I'm so pissed that I buy a car and this **** happens. Thanks in advance guys!

I've determined its not the motor, because when I start the car and turn on the headlights, nothing dimms when I hit the switch (plus the previous owner said he switched the motor out 3 months ago). Also, I don't think its a switch because both the driver side switch and the passenger side switch dont do anything. I'm gonna pull the door panel apart and see if all my connections are tight. Anything else I should look for with the panel apart?

Could be the motor, shouldn't die that soon though unless is was a bad one. I only had one warning before mine completely died, wouldn't work with either door switch. After replacing it the drivers side switch wouldn't operate it, just passenger switch - replaced the dual switch and worked fine, weird. I'd disconnect the plug from the motor and use a meter to see if it's getting power from the switches, if it is I'd suspect the motor.

I have the door panel off now, and am taking a break. I highly doubt its the motor, 1 because its pretty new, 2 it worked perfectly until I tried to put it up last night. In fact it was faster than my drivers side motor that was replaced a year ago. I'll let you guys know what the deal is.

I put in a new motor for my driver side and that's about to go to. It's PITFA to replace.

Well, I unplugged the window motor to see if it was corroded, and the connections were clean. Also, no matter how I wiggled the plug, it wouldnt work. I'm gonna try again right now, then later tonight, my friend is gonna bring his multimeter and test light to see if the motor is getting power. Honestly though, I'm thinking now that it's the motor. The previous owner said one motor was a GM replacement and one was an Autozone replacement. He thinks that the passenger one was the autozone. Either way, the passenger motor is 3 months old so is it covered by warranty?

HAHA! After wiggling the connection the window started moving, and fast. The motor is perfectly fine, just the wires in the little plug that connects to the motor weren't connecting properly. Im gonna clean them out and tape it up and hopefully we should be back in business!

Well it worked for a little bit, then I put the door back together and it still worked. Then some 05+ mustang GT was revving at me at a light and I tried to roll down my passenger window and nothing happened. So anyways, do you know if any local auto parts store carries those little plugs that plug into the headlight motor? That's literally all it is. Once I get the new plug I am now an old pro at taking the door panel off, I could probably do it in 30 mins.

Do you guys think Autozone carries that style plug?

You mean window motor plug right?

Not sure where you'd find one, autozone might have one but not certain. You could call them and ask before you go over there, or another alternative is go to a bone yard and get one, or Ebay.

Yeah, the window motor plug that has the two wires in it which plugs in to into the window motor itself. I figure it is a pretty generic plug. Again, if anyone has had to replace this piece, please chime in because I don't really know whats involved.

If you can narrow it down to the plug, it only takes about 1/2 an hour to take the door panel off if you take your time and do the step by step (use the search). Then you can get at the plugs. If its a window motor I can imagine it would be a slightly more painful process.

Not to sound like a broken record, but again let me know of a good place that I can buy a replacement plug that plugs into the window motor.

Call the stealership, can't be that expensive and might even have it in stock since it's used on other models.
