Exclamation Newb to LT1 help!!!

Okay so I got my new formula I go out to start it. I notice that the oil pressure guage jitters really quick then goes to up to then back to 20 shaking the hole way down. Then I stop at a stop sign. the oil pressure drops like normal i punch it and it hesitates big time then backfires then goes. What is that all about. I hear alot about this opti-spark going out on this site, Is this early signs or something else. please help..

check the oil, look for metal.

I looked on the dip stick didn't see anything. Could this be a bad sending unit, semi blown gasket, messed up wire? Any ideas would be helpful, especially about the hesitation.

mine just did the twitchy guage needle thing, that is a bad sending unit... Go to o'reillys or autozone and get the oil pressure sending unit socket and its located just behind the drivers side head. its not hard to do if you have that socket. part is $27 socket is $12.

the backfire is probably from your plus. just throw some NGK TR55's in there (cheap but some of the best you can run) and get a set of wires while your at it incase one burnt out against something. TR55's are $1.79 at O'reillys and wires are like $40.

Get 2 cans of seafoam and pour 1 in the tank when filling up with 93 octane (pour it in before you put the gas nozzle in) and follow the instructions in the very top posting on this forum... Seafoam is $5.99

so to get it runnin smoothly its going to run about $115 after tax.

-P.S. if your having a blown head gasket you will be loosing coolant in a fast manner

If its an LT1, its at least 10 years old. A bad sending unit is more than likely the case for the oil pressure. But I agree with the above. Make sure it has a good tune up (air filter, fuel filter, plugs, wires, and seafoam ). Give the fuel pressure regulator a check too.

Candy, you don't have to lose coolant with a blown head gasket. It could be external, which means you will lose compression.

Yea, as soon as I get the money I'm going to do a tune up maybe even a new opti. ( I don't think mine is going bad yet though). But I am scared of the seafoam though.
