Once your oil change light comes on, can you drive a few days without changing?

No it won't hurt it at all. As long as it is the change oil and not the low oil light! LOL.

Yeah and that low oil light doesn't get brighter when it's really low!

I'm pretty sure that's how it indicates it's time for an oil change.

Yup. And if you ignore it long enough, it just stays on. When I first got my car, that light came on right after an oil change (the system wasn't reset). I kept driving, knowing the oil was fresh (and checked to be sure - no leaks), and eventually, it just stayed on. That's when I read the manual (God forbid, I know) and learned how to reset that thing.

Anyway, you'll be fine for a couple more days, unless that stuff is tar-black and low.

I've seen cars at work say "Service B exceeded by 8000 miles" plenty of times. And this is with a 13000 mile oil change interval. So I think you'll be alright for a couple days

if you know its not time for an oil change and/or you want to reset the oil light just turn the key to the on position and hit the gas pedal 3 times and then turn the key to the off position. then start the car and the oil light should be off.

I think you can reset it by holding the trip reset in for a bit until it flashes I believe. I think I have done that once but usually do the gas pedal way.

1. Turn the ignition key to RUN with the engine turned off.

2. Push the TRIP/OIL RESET button located on the instrument panel for 12 seconds. The OIL CHANGE light will start to flash to confirm that the system is reset. The reset is complete when the OIL CHANGE light goes out.

This information is in your owner's manual for the car, FYI.

GUYS...IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH HOW ..MANY MILES...it is how you have RUN YOUR CAR...lotta revs=sooner........low revs=later....city/hwy..???....it is the amount of ABUSE your engine has taken......Mine does not come on until 4-5000 miles....[I change mine every 3000 miles...but I usually let the thing come on itself..just to see...I record when I do the change anyway..]
