Default In a Pinch--Need help!

I lent my 98 Z to my inlaws to go to church, and it came back with the windshield wipers pointing straight up! They work fine, it's just that instead of coming to rest at the bottom of the windshield when you turn them off, they come to rest in the straight up position after being turned off!! Anyone ever seen this before? I have had my car listed to sell for two months (already have another camaro and a WS6) and i finally just got a buyer--and now this happens.

I don't want the deal to fall through nor do i want to drop huge money in it right now, and i need to deliver the car this weekend.

Any ideas/fixes?!?!

Thanks!

There is a stop of some kind in the wiper motor assembly that breaks and the wipers work fine but stop in the up position. When my '97 Firebird did it the car was still under warranty and they replaced the wiper motor. It's a GM problem and not rare. It has been discussed before so maybe if you search you can find a better solution than changing the wiper motor. If I find the right thread I'll post it for you.

The first thread is the search I just did. Seems it could also be the switch that controls the wiper park. Like I said, the dealership fixed my '97 under warranty. I'm not sure what they really fixed, only what they told me and billed GM for.

Thanks GHard! I did a few searches but didn't turn up anything that described my problem. I tried wipers and up and wipers and stuck. When i click on the first two links you provided, i get an error and can't see any threads...can you either post again or provide the correct keywords so i can attempt the search again?

Thanks again for response, the guy is coming this weekend to give me some earnest money and i'd rather the car not be messed up!

park switch is bad, generally its in the wiper motor assembly. it is a switch that when the wipers go up, the armature on the motor hits the switch and reverses polarity of the motor, causing them to go back to the park position.

Yeah, the first 2 threads are from the searches and looks like you can't link to them. Search for wiper motor, wiper motor park, wipers stay up.

The wiper module is broken, its basically the brain for the wipers. Sadly you have to replace the whole wiper motor assembly.
I have a good one by the way, ask me why Shoot me a PM if you want it
