Default Popping noise up front?

I have a 1999 Z28 M6 that I purchased about 8 months ago. When I bought it, it was lowered but obviously hadn't been aligned properly. So I had it aligned a few weeks after I purchased it then bought new tires. I am now hearing a loud POP under suspension travel. So basically every time that I come down the driveway, or push the brakes harshly, or even when I am at a dead stop and just turn my wheel all the way one direction, I get the most disturbing popping noise from the front drivers side of the vehicle. My brother said that it would probably be the tie rods since it happened also when the wheel was turned all the way, but we replaced inner and outer ties on both sides and it did nothing. Do any of you have ideas on what this might be?

Default Popping up Front?

I forgot to add that this pop only happens 1-3 times per driving session. So it pops a couple of times over some bumps then you could drive it for hours and wouldn't hear it again until the car had time to sit and then was driven again. Is that still sounding like a shock issue?

I was thinking it might be a ball joint. I've had that noise on another car, but not on my Z. (Yet)

I had a faint popping type noise - had a hard time telling whether it was front or rear. Turned out to be sway bar endlinks up front - would never have figured it.

Rubber must have been deformed enough to allow movement.

My brother and I are pretty sure that the sway bar end links and the ball joints are fine, but we are checking into the strut mount right now. I really appreciate the help guys!

I had a problem with popping noise from the same spot. It only did it at low speeds on sharper corners. It was the tie rod end. When I replaced it, it wasn't smooth when I was messing with it. Disconnect the tie rod end and rotate the joint. If it sticks and doesn't rotate smoothly that is your problem.

Ok, I figured it out. The control arm bushing had failed. I am replacing them with some from Energy Suspension. Thanks again for the help!

Wrong. Its a shock. The 4th-gen f-body has coil-over front shocks.

A strut suspension doesn't have an upper control arm since the strut serves that purpose. The f-body has upper control arms. Therefore it has shocks.

I figured (actually a mechanic) mine yesterday. Mine turned out to be a slightly cracked motor mount. (92 Lexus SC300)
