Default 10 MPG...Why?

Anyone know why my car would be getting only 10 mpg??? I had it tuned, I don't run a huge camshaft either. Is this 100% due to the tune, or could there be a hidden cause?

I tried seafoaming it to clean out the injectors and engine, still eats fuel.

Maybe if they made the car run a little rich depending on nitrous use. Or maybe a coil is bad and your not getting enough spark to a certain cylinder.

My A/F looks good. Maybe a touch rich as it looks to be just under the 12.5 line. Would this A/F ratio cause me to lose half of my efficiency though?

Regarding nitrous, I don't have nitrous, just the banner to have a chance to win a free set-up, hehe.

Thanks

Nah, just did the MAF cleaner last week. Looked pretty clean before I sprayed it too. I am at a loss here. With CAI and cat-back I was getting close to and over 300 to the tank (about 20mpg). Then it started getting hard to hit 250 on the tank. Now, after mods, I am struggling to get 150 on the tank!!! Granted more power=more fuel, but c'mon. Something ain't right.

If you're only running at 12.5:1 AFR, then you're definitely giving up a lot of fuel mileage - nominal AFR for normal cruising is 14.7:1 with 12.5:1 being the norm for WOT.

Might want to get that tune looked at.

14.7:1 is stoich, about as lean as theoretically possible as far as i know. Havent heard of any cars tuned to hit that on purpose.

14.7 is optimal a/f ratio for emissions. You can go leaner. when fooling around with hptuners, my car was able to keep idle as lean as 18:1.

At wot, more fuel is needed so you richen to 12.5 or whatever your tune says.

You have something very wrong... I'm an M6 with a decent size cam and mods in sig and I consistently get 25-29 MPG.

Still stock rear-end for now, soon will go 12 bolt w/ 4.10's. But stock 3.42's now.

Regarding cruising A/F ratio, I'm not sure what my tuner did here. I only have my WOT dyno graph to look at right now. I am still in the process of adding and tuning, so maybe it's something simple like leaning the cruising and partial throttle.

O2 sensors? Hmm, I'll check them out. Anyone know what's involved in checking and possibly replacing O2 sensors?

Yeah, I'm in the same boat. I put a cam in over the weekend, got the tune on monday.

I was getting 20+ mpg - mainly city and some expressway.

After the mods, I got 27 on the highway, and now i've got 86 miles on 1/2 tank in the city! Can't be much better than 10mpg right now, and I'm not standing on it anymore than I used to. I am also running about 12.7 a/f ratio at WOT.

I watched my o2's at a cruise on a tech 2 and saw .200mv to .800mv shift on both banks. I'm at a loss myself

It sounds like after you got a tune your MPG fell on its face. Seems pretty convincing that it is in the tune somewhere. Get it checked out, if it was your o2's then it would throw on the SES light.

Tune issues, that is what I was thinking. No SES light, so O2's should be good?

I have only boltons and im struggling to get 12mpg! you guys are cammed and get better mileage than me! I wanna see someone come up here and get 18mpg or even 16mpg where i live. Most of the people who live in the so called city must live in the burbs. My car is tuned up, etc. I was down near 11-10mpg last november when i stored the car. The car doesn't even see anything over 2500rpms and i never get on it.
