So still going with this set up. One question is should I leave the valve in dirty side and run it though the can or change it to plain 90 nipple?

On a forced induction application, the PCV valve should stay on the dirty side before the catch can.

Well I had to get a little creative on the install but it's in! Should the can be hissing?

edge04,
Can you post more pictures with a broader view of the install? To confirm, you have a single port on the passenger valve cover (front) and one port on the driver valve cover (rear)? What is the clean side routing?

I can take more pics. Yes I have one port on the clean (pas) side that I capped off as well as capping off the TB port and installed a filtered oil fill cap. The dirty (driver) side has one port in the rear that runs to the top of the can now and then from the side of the can the line goes back to the intake.

Sounds correct except I don't like valve cover breathers. The can shouldn't 'hiss'; does it hiss all the time?

I think the hissing is just the sound of the air going into the can???

Wow! What a thread. Some great info in here. I feel a little smarter on the subject from this end of the thread. I was getting a little lost until the bad *** diagrams made their way on board. Thanks for those!

I worked in parts for about 8 years, and as I recall, there were a million different PCV valves available behind the counter. Is there a certain vehicle to reference when picking up a PCV? I ask because I can't remember if the tube diameter was fairly universal for the majority of vehicles or if they varied... or if it even matters. Also, what exactly is a "vacuum cap?" Just a plastic cap?... or is it some kind of crazy NASA designed cap available only from nuclear submarine junkyards? Sorry for the ignorance.

I actually started the long trek across this thread to finally get an "end all" answer on which catch cans actually work. I'm happy to say that this is no longer a mystery!

Thanks again for the awesome info and diagrams Aaron!

Thanks Kurt. Tracy Lewis deserves credit also, he has contributed significantly and is one of two companies that manufactures a REAL catch can.

I use the stock PCV valve with the stock PCV 'boot'. Most of the PCV applications for V8 cars have a 3/8" or 11/32" hose ID. A vacuum cap us just a simple rubber cap used to block a vacuum port.

Also, I think there are a million and one different PCV valves.

It's vented, not good unless your installing it on the clean side of an LS7 dry sump. Is that steel wool? If so, I would recommend something a little coarser and made of stainless. Steel wool will deteriorate over time and I would hate to have that in the intake path.

I wouldn't think steel wool would deteriorate with all the oil/air that will be filtering threw. Yes, that was my one of my old pcv set-ups, I plan on removing the breathers and routing like your diagram. Although you now have me worried about the steel wool....

The filter media will work good to trap oil mist to begin with, but quickly becomes saturated and then oil droplets can pull off the top & out the outlet and into the intake....
