Is the hot cam a waist of money or is it a good cam all i want it a mild cam that wont give me any trouble driving every day i wanted a stock like idle and hopfuly make between 360 and 380rwhp with bolt ons and maybe low 12s will the hot cam ket me that or will i be better off with a tsp 220/220 or vrx1. Does anyone have any sound clips of any of these cams Thanks

You would probably be better of just doing some boltons, you would make around the same power and not have to go through all the work to install a cam or pay someone to do it. I would say it is not worth it, but hey, do what you wanna do.

you can go with a 224 or a little larger cam and have it run like stock. a good tuner can make it idle perfectly especially if you stay in the 114 range for a bigger cam.

I would say do full bolt ons and a ls6 cam. Will have stock driving manners and should put you right around 360-370 rwhp. Plus its not going to be hell on your springs like a hot cam or other aftermarket cam with aggressive lobes, so the durability will be stock-like.

you will need new springs, but LS6 springs are cheap. Well under 100 for the whole set. You have to be the judge on your timing chain, the stock will work but you may want a new one if its old.

I would replace it if you have the cash, just for piece of mind, but 32k is nothing.

Yes! I agree 100%! But what I've had to force myself to learn and accept on here is the simple phrase:

You get what you pay for.

Being it doesn't cost anyone to post their question, anyone can and will respond with there opinion...and everyone has one.

Jesus Christ man, chill out...

Yes, his reply was classic but rather than start a pissing contest with that guy (which is what that kind of response usually leads to) in someone else's thread, just ignore it. It's obvious he has no clue. I understand that it get's irritating after a while, we all see it on here all the time but it's easier for everyone just to ignore those kinds of posts until at least he brings something factual into the argument.

Anyways, back to the topic at hand!

To the OP I would not "waste" my time with the hotcam. There are plenty of other cams in the 224 range and a little larger that you can run and still have nearly stock driveability but have a very satisfying gain in power as well. That being said, you are probably not going to find much of anything in that range that will still "sound" stock. Most all aftermarket cams will have a slight chop to them. Even the hotcam.

With the sale going on at KATECH you can get the Hot Cam kit for less than $500 and yes it's a good cam and has shown some solid gains. There are better but there is nothing wrong with the GMPP.
