Default Keep my ported MAF or back to stock??

Should I keep my ported Maf or go back to stock. I really don't know if my maf was home ported or if someone knew what they were doing. I bought my car used and that mod was on it.

My air/fuel is dead on like around upper 12 and a smoothing of 2.

But I was told, my air/fuel should not start at like 15 or 16 (around 3800 rpms) and drop down to 13 or so (4200 rpms). And then its straight all the way through the gragh.

I dynoed with 340 hp and 322 tq

with:

1998 camaro z28 A4

Comp Cam 222/226 .566 .569 112 LSA
Comp Cam Vavle Springs
Jet Hot Coated Long Tubes
Jet Hot Coated Y pipe with No Cats
Exhaust Cutout
QTEC for my cutout
Free Ram Air Mod
EGR Mod
Ported MAF
SLP High Flow Lid
SLP Cold Air Induction
SLP Angled Smooth Bellow
Functional SS Hood
LS1 Edit Dyno Tunning

Did I dyno low for an A4?

Any advice?

Thanks in advance,

Justin

In an A4 LS1 I would strongly recommend the stock MAF.

If your car was tuned properly with ls1 edit. your car would be able to take advantage of an upgraded MAF sensor, or one with upgraded ends without getting any knock. good luck.

Since you have an A4, I would put the stock one back on. I had a ported MAF on my car shortly after I bought it. I later switched back to a descreened stock unit, and felt the car was running much better. It also seems I picked up some MPG. I don't know if that was coincidence or not.

Same experience here, car ran and especially shifted much better after puting stock unported MAF ends back on.

There should be no difference in the shifting of the car. The MAF is the most integral sensor of the equation, I hate to see people screw with them. I have tuned numerous cars with hogged out ones and backyard port jobs etc. If the MAF is altered in any way to flow more air you are throwing off the designed and tested calibration of metering airflow. Therefore the MAF is not seeing the extra airflow that is entering the engine and this will cause a lean condition, and since the timing is directly dependent on airflow of the maf you are throwing off the timing as well. Many times I have seen the cars with these ported mafs ping because they have too much timing. These are just some things to think about that many people overlook. If it is tuned right run the ported one.

Actually there is a difference...The MAF is used in A4 cars to help determine tranny line pressure.

I would run the stock MAF descreened.

I am a six speed and when I went back to the stock MAF from ported there was a BIG difference in power. (35RWHP in the midrange ~25-30RWHP peak) Both stock MAF and ported were LS1edit tuned)

Run the descreened stocker and retune and you'll see a big difference.

cheers,
Chris

the maf is used to determing load, which the shift tables use as part of their reference, this is why they can cause shifting problems.

Here is a fact-Ported MA's put the car in a different load table meaning more timing= more power. Also a A4 car will have less tranny line pressure. With less line pressure the car WILL feel faster but at the cost of faster wear on the tranny. Most fairly stock A4 cars will last a long time with a ported MA,but built ones live a short life.
As a tuner I strongly suggest a stock/screened MA on any A4 car. When Edit tuning there is no power gain with removing the screen.
