Default Problem after header install

I have an 01 z28 that was stock other than a lid an exhaust. I recently put some pacestter longtubes and off road y pipe on it and it runs pretty horrible. I put the headers on a couple months ago but don't drive the car daily, and when I first put them on it ran much better than it does now. I am getting about 10 mpg and getting a lot of bucking throughout the rpms and sometimes if I get on it it wil start backfireing and breaking up. I have had a blinking check engine light on a few occasions as well. I think the problem is that i haven't had the rear o2 sensors tuned out which is causing the car to run like this, but I have seen other people running headers on the stock tune all the time. Any ideas?

I would check your plugs & wires. It's easy to crack the porcelain on a plug when installing headers.

The blinking ses light is a missfire. I'd bet your plugs or wires are bad. My turbo gt did this last summer. I'd go wot and the car would break up and missfire very bad. The rear o2's don't really cause the car to run bad. They just read the cats. Good luck.

So if a front o2 sensor or wire was messed up it would cause problems, but not if it were a rear sensor?

you can run fine without rear sensors, so it is unlikely the issue is from a rear sensor. I would check plugs and wires first. had a similar issue and it turned out to be a wire wasnt pushed all the way down on two of my plugs.

Its blinking like others have said because of a misfire. the reason it blinks is to warn you it will ruin the cataltic converter if not taken care of asap. Check spark like everyone said. Good luck finding it.
