Tb porting
Tb porting Any suggestions on how & what to use to smooth out the bore? I want to polish the exterior body (blue magic chrome polish) or powdercoat it-its a stock 78mm OEM Thanks to all
I used a dremel with a grinding stone then wet sanded with finer and finer paper then polished inside looks better than the out on mine lol. Took a couple hours to do with the bump stop mod. I didnt do the metal filler thing as I heard that cracks sometimes.... Overall came out good and response is better but that could be due to the bump stop mod too.
i and 99% of everyone else who ports their own tbs use a dremel and it turns out fine.
go to the hardware store and pick up a few of the tips for the dremel, put your throttle body in a vice and take your time with it. it's fun.

Bo, we should throw on some camo and go on the hunt for this elusive monster they call, the "STOCK 78mm throttle body".
To those of you who said "I ported mine with a dremel and it turned out fine". I hate to **** in your corn flakes, but there is absolutely positively no way you will do a better job than an experience porter with the correct tools. Not too mention, experienced guys are porting them cheap these days. You can thank ME for some of that.

but heck, i'm up for a challenge. send me an "expert" ported stock 78mm throttle body and i will dyno my car with it and then my "home ported" throttle body and we will see just how much better it is. i'll pay for the dyno and for the return shipping of your throttle body.
I'll second the dyno move. Damian it's fine you do them for a living, however if someone wants to try it by themselves why not let them try it and maybe even give them some helpful advice on it? It's not like were building missiles and letting some big secret out here...
My friend has a professionally ported one, I modeled mine after his and theres no way you could tell the difference without looking on the outside where his is polished.

Ive had to fix alot of TBs back in the day that the owner got ahold of with some rotory tool of some sort and probably Damian as well and he is just trying to save a select few some headache. Besides, not everyone owns a rotory tool of somesort and by the time you went and got everything to do it with you could have had it done by a professional. On another note, I like seeing people give a hand at modding thier own cars and parts- thats part of hot rodding.
