I've always like the Borla catback but I've noticed not many guys run them anymore. Is there any reason?

times are tough.
people are finally realizing they are $800 cutouts with sexy tips
there are plenty of other REALLY good exhausts out there now
TDs are becoming more and more common

Basically. People are looking at more cost/benefit as they mod. Absolutely nothing wrong with a Borla system, but why spend that much when you can get a stainless steel Magnaflow system for less than half the cost. Same reason why a lot of people favor Pacesetter/Ebay headers over Kooks/ARH.

I was set on going with GMMG but it was too pricey, then was going to go with Hooker..but instead found a decent deal on a new Magnaflow...then ran across a used Borla system from a member here for the cheapest out of all of them...and I am very happy with it

Borla is great but pricey as many have said. You get what you pay for though. Love the versatility. I got mine used which for a Borla is like brand new. Guess the guy wanted to be cool and go true duals. Thanks for that one buddy! I have to be honest, I would have a hard time buying new. So I can agree with the guys that choose another options. If you look at my Sig I went a little cheaper with my CTS-V and got the Magnaflow. Would've gone Borla or maybe Corsa if I had the extra $.

personally I dont like the GMMG & Flowmaster sound.... I say if you got the money to spend on exhaust & depending on your set up. go with Borla or true duals. dont know if my Borla exhaust is like everyone else? but my right tip is a straight pipe. then the left flows through the muffler.... kind of interesting?

I still love Borla...
I remember back in 1998 when the LS1 F-Bodies hit the scene,Borla quickly became what everyone wanted to put on thier car.
Suddenly Flowmaster was for Mustangs and Borla was for LS1s...
I think a big problem started when Borla hiked up the price a while back (maybe 05' or so?).
I want to say that it was shortly before they introduced the "non-adjustable" kit for our cars.Suddenly the priced on the good ol' adjustable kit jumped from around $700 or so to almost a $1000 depending on where you shop.
Additionally, the average owner now for these cars as values have gone down is pretty young and with that comes a lower income... Obviously a well made quality product like Magnaflow (for example) at a much lower price than Borla becomes very appealing when on a tight budget.
Personally if I had the money,I would be getting a Borla kit for my SS.I like how it sounds (although I agree with the guy saying it's a "love it or hate it" sound) and I love how the tips look on our cars...
