Yeah...I can see their frustration over the whole thing, but it can't be much if anything at all. Kinda sucks when they keep coming out with "better" stuff.

I understand the that you can use a 92mm TB on the 102mm intake, but why buy a 102mm when your not going to use it to its full potential?

I hope the 102 makes less than my 92 so it become a rare item ...but I am sure it will make great power...let's hope they fixed the fitment issues...

so what was this supposed 3-4hp gain on...

so am I getting this right? Since the 102mm is coming out, they are going to stop production on the 92mm all together? Or will they produce both?

From what I've read and understood is that this is replacing the 92 mm version. So the 92's will no longer be produced.

Thats pretty gay. The only reason they are doing this is for marketing to keep the prices up on there intakes which is total BS! I worked at a factory in Frankfort KY that makes plastic intake manifolds and actually does make the L76 intake manifold and the prices that our company were charging for a completed intake was pennies on the dollar. This is an easy manifold to make too because it's in shells. L76, LS1, LS6, LS3 intakes are not that easy cause they use a process called lost core which is basically a process of injecting the plastic into a mold around a core of bismuth. Then the whole part is dropped into boiling lutron (a chemical solution to help melt the bismuth out of the plastic part) and electrical charge to melt the bismuth out of the part.

The manufacturing cost of the lost core process is quite a bit more than just plain injection molding of basic shells. With all of the above said, they are making bank on these intakes and it is absolutely rediculous. I know it don't take rocket science to create another manifold to compete with fast to drive the prices down. I know for a fact if there was another composite intake that came out priced at $500 it would sink FAST intakes!

Maybe this is my calling??

Sounds like you know enough to do it........so when should we expect your first prototype?

I hope you have more money, time, and knowledge than others....I think your over simplifying the process just a tad.

Fast has patents on their intake design. I think it would be a costly investment to make this.

Yes there are patents and fast has the best composite intake out right now other than the ls7 but it is stupid for them to charge the amount they are for a manifold that is cheaper to make than GMs L76 intake. But a L76 intake can be had for $300 new and that's a significant price markup. The only reason they are priced so high is because they can. Until something else comes out to equal or surpass the FAST then prices will never come down on them.

Last i knew R&D isn't free. When you buy this intake manifold you are not just buying a hunk of plastic. You are buying a engineered piece that i am sure has spent 100s of hours on the dyno and flow benches while making prototypes after prototypes. The molds or what ever they use to make these manifolds did not magically appear one day.

i dont see what the big deal is that they're gonna stop makin the 92mm. it was alomst 1k when it first came out. now the 102mm is out, buy it, put a 92mm tb on it and its basically the same thing as a 92mm intake, except now you have more room to grow.

^Yep^...Its going to go down in price and my ported FAST cost me more than that and I'm pretty sure this stock piece is equal or better than mine...

Nothing new, FAST is the best and cost more than others...

It looks like I can fit my head in that thing.

I completely understand R&D work but it is not nearly as expensive as we are lead on to believe! I have no doubt it'll be a nice intake... I can't cry too much I have a LPE Ported 90 myself and if I'm tempted enough I may put my ported one up for sale and pick up one of these new ones for my stroker. I just wish they would come down to a normal intake price! $1000 for a plastic intake manifold is nuts.

All this makes me wonder how ITB's would work on a LS1!

I'd have to see back to back dyno's on MY CAR, not online for me to sell my current FAST 90/90 combo and switch to a 102 setup. I'm not saying it wouldn't be worth it if I had a stoudt 400+ cubic inch motor, with 1 7/8 headers, and the intake manifold was my limiting factor to making more power. But again, I'd have to see a back to back dyno test to sell me on it, but that's just me.
