Angry ls6 intake swap gone wrong

So I got an LS6 intake for Christmas (thanks dad). I wasn't doing anything for the rest of the day so I figured why not pick up another 10 ponies or so. So I got to ls1howto.com and print up the directions and read through them a couple times. OK, I know what I'm doing, quite simple.

Install goes fine. Get it all together and start her up. Immediatly it shoots up to 2000 rpms and comes back down to 800 (normal idle for M6) where it tries to idle for a half second then stumbles down until the engine dies. I give it a little gas next time I start it up but to no avail. *edit* Forgot to add that I did get rid of the pesky EGR crap, but not that that should matter.

So I take it all apart again and put it back together, this time following the directions step by step. Same problem.

Ok...one more time, this time I spent quite a while making sure everything was just right. I'm pretty confident this time (and it's 1:00 am now) and I start her up. Same problem. So it's Christmas and I got a car that won't idle.

What did I do wrong?

WHEN YOU SAY you got rid of the EGR CRAP, I don't think you can just remove the cable and be done with it. I think you have to have something like Ls1 edit and remove a code from computer. ( I AM NOT AN EXPERT)
YOUR BEST BET WOULD HAVE BEEN TO MODIFY NEW LS6 MANIFOLD TO ACCEPT EGR TUBE.

removing the egr and air does not effect performance. he'll have the po405 egr code but it doesnt do anything.

as far as whats wrong, have you checked for a vaccum leak yet?

double check your vacuum lines in back, and from the TB. Also look into your electrical connections. Make sure all is tight and connected. Sorry to hear your bad install experience on such a nice day.

I would reset the computer first. After the reset, it will take a few minutes for your car to re-learn the idle. It that doesn't work, check for a vacuum leak as mentioned above.

Disconnect the computer and go to bed. Get up tomorrow, errr today, and get back on it. After all that work I know how you must feel. I get pissed off and just have to walk away from it, come back and it will be something stupid that I forgot. You sure you got all the lines hooked up? No vacuum leaks? Good luck, get back to us in the morning

I didn't even think about resetting the PCM. I'm going to do that now and when I get home in a couple hours I'll start her up again.

As far as checking for a vacuum leak, how would be the best way to do that?

sounds like a vaccum leak. check, re-check, and triple check everything. is it sealing on the head ports properly? did you remember to remove the "clips" that hold the old coolant line down? did you reconnect the vaccum line in the back of the manifold?

Ok, resetting the PCM didn't do anything.

I kept it alive for about a minute this time by slowly giving it a little gas to keep it between 800-2000 rpms. It sounds like its missing on a few cylinders.

Anyways, I got new gaskets to try out, so I'm off to do that now. Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated.

That's what I'm thinking also... There is two of them, the small one for the map sensor plug itself & a larger one for the booster.. Also you might want to double check & make sure the plug & the map is in securely.

I've found the problem...

The intake manifold is actually cracked. Wonderful. It's cracked quite well around the front right after the throttle body.

Damn the luck!!!!! Try to get that thing warrantied as a defective part ASAP which hopefully should not be a problem.
