Are you using a lift? If not you will have to get the front end up quite a ways for the drivers side. I put FLP's on mine years ago and I also diconnected the steering linkage to get them in Other than that it went easy an fairly quick.

IMO if i had to do it again, i'd get a cherry picker and lift up the front end ( like pulling the motor) and set something under the front wheels(something very safe). So you have alot more room.

Definitely search this site, there are TONS of threads on it. I did mine with a jack and some large jack stands. Get the car as high as possible. I jacked mine up all the way then put it on jack stands then used some wood between the jack and where I was lifting to get it up a few more inches. Passenger side usually slips right in and rotates into place. Driverside you need to take off the Motor mount pedistal. the part that bolts to the cradle.

well i'd say the front wheels need to be off the ground about 2 1/2ft roughly to be able to angle the headers and etc.

i did mine on a lift, BUUUUT i didnt have to disconnect anything, no steering shaft and def not freakin motor mounts... but some headers are diff... but yeah def get some really tall jack stands and some 2x4's and get that sucker as high as possible... pretty much here's the process, disconnect battery, take coil pakcs off disconnect the air and egr, unbolt manifolds (use pb penetrating oil and let it soak, i let mine soak for a couple of days and re applied it many times, if your having trouble with one spray some more and use a torch and heat it up, it helps, dont break any of them, lol), unbolt y pipe use some more penetrating oil again... if you dont have a impact this can be quite a bitch luckily for me i had a impact, then do everything again just backwards... not that hard just being on the ground will suck... good luck might be a lil stuff inbetween i may have forgot but those are the main things...

Ive put on 2 sets of headers in my f- bodies in the driveway on jackstands with just hand tools. And im definately no mechanic. Its doable but dont plan on rushing through it. I wouldnt start working on the car if its your only vehicle and you have to have it going the next morning for transportation. It takes longer than you expect and you will run into little problems here and there most likely....

Wrong.... If you lift the drivers side (front and back at same time) about 18-20 inches, you'll get enough clearance to get the headers in. Worst case is you MIGHT have to disconnect your steering shaft for a touch of clearance (most do).

Same on passenger side about 18-20 inches and you'll be fine. Done about 8 or 9 sets including one less than 48 hours ago.

Good luck

Why don't we get the tape measure out and measure the EXACT heighth you need to get it in.

Be it 18-20" or 2 1/2ft atleast it get's the job done, I say the more room the better.
