Default about to switch intakes. . . HAS BIG PICS

Alright, i've got my GMPP EFI en route to my house, got the low-profile sheet-metal (aluminum) elbow which uses the stock TB. Already upgraded and tuned (last year) my car to FAST 36 (40ish#) injectors (white ones), upgraded to a Lunati 55008 cam and Patriot Gold Extreme springs. Everything internal is tuned already with my LS6 intake. I know I need carb studs and gaskets including the Fel-Pro 1312-3 set. My questions are:

1. Should I expect to need a retune - I expect it will breath easier so I kinda think it will need it.

2. I'll be getting a larger TB and simultaneously open up the elbow for larger TB. Another tune?

3. While I was running 12.16 and 12.18s at the track without this intake, or cam, any thoughts what I'll be capable of afterwards? (Got 241 heads, M6 transmission and my 3rd 10-bolt - - - M9 being built) i know I had 354 rwhp before cam or intake, thoughts there too?

Thanks

D

1. I dont think a tune will be needed for daily driving, you may not notive any adverse driveability issues but IMO anytime you change intakes especially this drastic an A/F adjustment will be needed at least a WOT check...
2. I think once you get it tuned for the new intake initially the addition of a larger t/b later on down the road wont be necessary ,its not as big of a mod like the intake swap is...
3.Since your running stock heads and we dont know how agressive your cam is...I think it all rides on your cam specs...if your cams smallish I think you might go slower as these intakes are built for upper rpm power and you often lose power below 3,000 rpms... but if your cam is huge and all your have is upper rpm power then youll definately pick up some

Just thought of this last night. . . .

Where does everyone put the MAP sensor on the Victor/Victor Jr/GMPP intakes?

I mounted mine on the intake bolt at the driver's rear of the intake

Gotcha, and ran the hose to the intake or elbow from the MAP? Been getting PMs back & forth about the vacuum connection stuff on this.

Thanks for those who've posted and PM'd me how to do this. Today I got all the parts (minus the NPT & hose) gathered together for the first time and put the elbow/gasket/carb studs onto the intake. Ran out of time and the weather is getting nice enough. Tomorrow I measure to see if I'll be cutting the cowl or if it fits (I suspect the latter).

Some pics coming tomorrow also

Alright, the intake/elbow combo measures 8 3/4" at the high spot which is 9 1/2" from the back and starts to slope down as it comes forward from that point. Later, once I've gotten some sleep, I'll measure the car, but I suspect I've got room!!!

I've been piecing it together, so I think I've got about $525ish into it. I've already got FAST 36 (good for about 41.5ish), Aeromotive fuel rails, smooth bellow intake and ported tb... hoping it breaths good :

Okay, got a few questions on this that have been asked, but I confuse easily...

Alright, concerning vacuum lines/brake lines & such...

Right now, I've got the LS6 intake and the brake booster has a hose connected to it and the back of the LS6 at the MAP. I've got the idea on the MAP now, but for the brake booster, is that another NPT I connect up to the back of the elbow? How about the other hoses like pictured below. How close is the REVExtreme diagram to what I should use... I don't have a catch can yet and I don't have any vent or filters on the valve covers.

Guide me on this please.

My intake from the back where the NPT(s) will go...

MY intake as it is on the car RIGHT NOW...

REVExtreme - nice detail!!!

How does this if at all fit in? How about those two brass fittings at the intake opening... Clearly I've got those connected right now, but what do I do about those since they're not on the GMPP?

Looking at this I get the impression it's time to vent the valve cover and delete the PCV system....

Alright. I've got the elbow getting re-drilled and tapped for larger NPTs for the vacuum for the brakes and fuel pressure regulator stuff. The PCV stuff is getting ready to be replaced with breather filters. If I see alot of oil coming out of the filters for some odd reason, I'll move to catch can quickly. Ended up replacing the valve cover seals last week (old ones were starting to leak by) and strongly toying with the idea of a/c box removal. Moved the condenser and dryer out. Compressor coming out in a few days too. Like the idea of keeping defroster available so, will work on that a little later. Since I've got pleanty of pictures up, any other ideas, suggestions, criticisms and whatnot?

Alright, as asked in the initial posting, anyone have a guess as to what I'm potentially capable of after all this based on what I've done already? Throw into the equation the new cam too (Lunati 55008: 243/252 .595/.595 112+4) and soon to be 1.8 roller rockers making it about 630/630...

Thanks

I have some Jesel 1.8 that will make it 630/630....Similar cam on my last motor...
244/250 595/595 on 114 +2...1.8's made it 630/630

1'' valve cover spacers and Jesel 1.8's $550.00 shipped UPS and insured to your door

Thanks Getsum, I've also got some 1.8's of my own

Chris, I can't do it now. I understand you're looking for one now, but until I have this UP, I'm holding onto my LS6. FYI, it got gasoline on the paint job today and it's not nearly as pretty any longer.

For some in-place pics. . . awaiting pieces being powder coated. . .

Sent yesterday, the valley cover, fuel rails and throttle body for a little sprucing up

Almost 1/4" clearance between elbow and cowl. . .

The allen-head fasteners are not going to be permanent . . . More ARP fasteners en route

Need a new elbow because of a little bit more room between elbow & throttle body
