Default pacesetter headers, stock maf 2002 z

I have two questions, 1st what quality are the pace setters compared to the hookers? are they a good fit? What about the Y pipe? does it all hook up to the stock cats? What about the coating?
2ndI have been running a ported maf and my car has been running lean i have been told it is because of the ported maf. I have a new one to put on, is it better to keep the screen or to remove it?
my car is 2002 z28 m6. when it was stock except for flowmaster and k&n(no hp gain) it made 321.1 and 336.5 torq it has a few bolt ons now and should be a little better. I am considering the pace setters because of price.
thanks. John

There have been a ton of posts on pacesetters in the past 2 months. Do a search and type in pacesetter, you should find then enough answers. As for them being compared to hookers, the design was taken from the hookers and the quality is just as good IMO. You will have to do 1-2 minor adjustments to get the pacesetters to fit perfect.

As for the Y-pipe. I have no problems with mine and I'm glad its built the way it was for extra ground clearnace. Some others have had problems with the Y and wish it wasen't bent in.

pacesetters are great. cant use stock cats. get the pacesetters though, i woudl do it again. as for the maf, yeah u can descreen it but if u got a programer u coudl tune it to work right with ported ends and get a few extra ponies. but yeah get pacesetters, i heard hookers are falling appart on some people and heard nothing like that about pacesetters, also the o2 bungs are on the inside, a lot smarter, screw hooker and their 630 dollar headers only, i got everything for 500

I've heard the Pacesetters fit like any other header. Their y-pipe is complete **** though. Stock cats cannot be used. You'll need to buy some high flow cats or just not run any at all.

Now for my MAF lecture....

MAF mods are so hit and miss they are pointless. Any gains that you may see are so minor they don't justify the cost. Now as far as descreening the MAF. The screen flattens and straightens out the airflow for it to get metered. Leave it on. Also some people sometimes find a leaf or something stuck on their screen and are very happy that their screen was still there. The MAF is a very sensitive sensor, just leave it alone. Stock MAF is good for cars seeing like 600 HP

What i dont understand is why everyone is on pacesetters nuts about their ypipe, but take a look at the kooks ypipe its basically the same type of design...Im not not saying either is a good design but how much power do you really think it saps and for the price? For pics of quality chekc out my install notes in my sig.

If Pacesetter has redesigned their y-pipe then good for them. just about everyone that got the y-pipe when it first came out had to hack it to hell getting it to fit right.

I did have to take my Y to a muffler shop really quick to have them expand the pipe ends a little bit since all of them were to small and wouldn't slide on. Other than that the Y pipe was fine.

thanks, I was thinking pretty much the same thought about the MAF. I am not sure about the pacesetters, with that crappy Y pipe. The only draw back.

THE Y PIPE IS NOT CRAPPY!!!!!! in 3 sets of headers i have seen no problems at all, no cutting or bending or anything. yeah it fit the cat back tight but if u do it right and loosen the hangers its not a problem. dont let that set u back every header will have some kind of problem. i would rather pay 130 for a ypipe and have to maybe get it bent or cat than pay 200 for one that i would maybe have to do the same.
