Default Difference in air lids

Is there a huge difference in the performance gains amongst air lids? I know someone selling a BlackWing, but how does it compare to an SLP? And are FTP lids worth the extra $70 compared to and SLP?

My mods are in my sig. I'll also soon have full exhaust, and eventually a ported LS2 intake manifold or something along those lines.

Is the BlackWing all it's hyped up to be? Being that it came stock on some cars, I'm wondering how it compares to aftermarket lids.

blackwing will fit the best, but there are cheaper routes. i tried a whisper lid on mine and fit like ****, so i sold it instantly. lol its basically a guessing game

I think the slp lid looks nice and is a lot less restrictive than stock

I might be wrong but I thought the blackwing was an optional factory slp lid? I dont understand why they are sought after really

They even sell carbon fiber and clear ones, just get what you will like the best, dont think theres enough difference in flow to worry about.

The story goes the blackwing air lid flows better and if you own one you can see it is made of heavier plastic, if you research they are supposedly the best of the lids flo-wise and since they are no longer made whats out there is whats left, take it or leave it where has the new ones are still being mass produced in wherever. Like every mod in this forum and others YMMV.

lids arent gonna show much gains from one to another really, it will be an improvement over stock, but all the aftermarket ones are basically all on par with each other.

And on a side note, i wouldnt waste your money on an LS2 intake, save and find an LS6, they will show better gains, it is just a better design. If you are looking to upgrade to and LS2 for the 90mm tb, then i would still advise an LS6 intake then have it sent to TPiS to have the LS2 snout fitted to the ls6 intake, basically a 90mm LS6 best of both worlds

I have a TSP clear lid that I heard TSP quit making a few years back. A lid is a lid.

I've already read through the pinned posts. I've also already read that "a lid is a lid is a lid". With such huge price differences, it's hard to believe that this:

http://fasttoys.net/shop/product_inf...products_id=29

Would show the same power gain as this:

http://fasttoys.net/shop/product_inf...oducts_id=1456

The FTP looks like a much better design, but I don't really know, which is why I made this post asking.

what you have there is an SLP lid for stock applications, and a FTP lid for larger MAF and TB combos.

thats 2 different styles.

the question that is being asked im sure pretains to stock replacement lids that use the stock MAF, in which case, a lid is a lid is a lid.....

then you step up to the big boys and in that case...a lid is a lid is a lid.

The blackwing is a good design like the SLP, mostly due to the fact that there is a better chance it won't rub on your hood. It also fits very well, some lids do not. Just throwing that out there, the differences in lids are usually stuff like these not hp gains. Thats why I bought an SLP lid, it was on sale for 85$ and I know theres a 99% chance of it fitting well and sealing without hitting my hood. Like the other guys said that's not taking into account the neck size for some of the larger lids, which would maybe show more power on a big cube build.
