LOL, no I'll just buy one that costs $200, grind away my radiator, delete my tranny cooler, delete my AC, and wonder why everyone else is driving with their windows up on a 100 degree day.
Drag cars - yea I get it! People driving these cars to work or school every day, This is flavor of the month debate all over again. Buy this ram air, no this one, no this one. Take your credit card out, buy some heads, cam and whatever else will make your car go vrooom. Deleting the AC and removing it will prob put you 1 or 2 mph up anyway, OMG it's the ram air...

LOL, I know it is hot in Houston in the summer time! I've never talked about the AC version, only the NON/AC version. It seems to bother you that I'm mocking slightly modded non-drag cars that intentionally delete their AC for a few MPH gain? I live in Houston, buy a EWP and keep the AC

I deleted mine cause I had a literal grenaded compressor. I also live in South Louisiana. It doesn't bother me at all. RA kit works great. I can attest that the non-ac version with the lower scoop on had absolutely no issues decapitating a squirrel at 60mph.
Chris, I'm gonna PM you about something else...

I just got one of these
I have an Lt1, is there a thread on the new hood and all the airbox stuff I'll need to make this work? I think I have to stand the rad up and stuff, let me know is there a how-to?

The Ram air kit is a great design, but I decided to fabricate my own utilizing materials from Home Depot and did a little modification to provide more intake air. I haven't tracked the car yet to obtain any "real world" numbers but since the design is "similar" but not exact I'm sure the results are positive. I used it for normal driving with an occasional pedal to the metal. It's been on my car for about 8 months and is sturdy. If your interested you can PM me for pics and instructions. I didn't have to remove my AC!! Chris1313 does sell a kit that doesn't require removal of your AC Condenser.
LOL I didn't realize this was an old thread! I was searching for "Painted Air Lid" threads and saw this. Anyway if anybody's interested PM. If you have the time and want to save money it was fun.

Just read the entire 19 page thread and have two questions as I am installing mine right now. (AC version on a '02 WS6)
1) How far forward or back on the upper radiator support is the RA supposed to sit as I have about 1/2-1 an inch of movement. It probably doesn't even matter but wanted to check before I put the two supplied self tapping screws in.
2) Does the bottom portion have to be bent back and then drilled for the 3 10mm bolts or can I just leave it "scoop style" like the non-AC versions?
Thanks!
Ok I'm outside doing it and found the answer to question #1. As far as you can get it basically. I clearanced the rib on the upper radiator support really well with vice grips so I am placing the RA as far forward as possible where it contacts the radiator support up top. I also found that if I perfectly center the bottom plastic lid/filter to the throttle body so that the lid lines up perfectly and then center the Ram Air outlet to the filter tray that the very bottom is off around 1/2 inch where the 3 10mm bolts go in. That won't bother me as I want to use every single mm of the ram air outlet so that all the air hits the filter and not the edge or even the bottom surface of the bottom plastic tray.

Yup on the right track there too center it for the lid assembly base...the bottom where the 3 10mm bolts are will be off some...funny how gm does not symmetrically line up some parts on our cars...drives me crazy too lol
Now get that beast to the track

Yeah bud you got it looks like your car has plenty of room for the ram air, some other cars are tighter...just push it forward and screw it in place on top...

It might block a little but my guess is it will not hurt gains any...there is a ton of air that travels under the car and the kits are made to the max to have some head room or overkill in flow...
