Default NGK TR55 Plugs

I was looking to buy some new Plugs today and i was looking at the NGK TR55's. I came across several different classes such as, iridium, double platinum, GP platinum, and V-Power . Which plug should i go with? Or does it all depend on how much money i want to spend? But in your personal opinions which plug is the best?

I run the NGK V-Power type for $2.50 a piece from Summit. They seem to work pretty good in mine gapped @ .050. Fred

I use the regular TR55s (copper), they are the cheapest ones, I think they call them the "V-power".....

I searched under spark plugs on this forum and read about thirty posts, took what I thought to be the most prevelant practice by the users, and left them gapped at .050. Mine were gapped perfectly out of the boxes at .050, which is where NGK gaps them at the factory.

Yeah NAPA sell 'em for well under $2 a piece.

You can gap them pretty much anywhere between .050 and .060. I've tried everything inbetween and saw no difference....

Most of our sponsors sell them. I picked up a set from Thunder Racing a few weeks ago.

Thumbs up

I've just changed from Bosch platinum +4's to the TR55's which were gapped @ .55 out of the box. BIG DIFFERENCE! I swapped out the stock ones @ 22,000 for the Bosch. I always thought the rough idle and stumble was from other mods I made. It's all gone now after only 6,000 miles on the Bosch. I have to agree with the rest of you folks on this forum - they work very well!

I bought some from an Oreilly's yesterday. 8 plugs were like $12.40 including tax, look around at some local shops before paying someone like Summit shipping to get you something you can find locally.

I bought mine from O'Rielly's today, and was a little surprised when they said $1.50 each!

For what's it's worth Summit has free shipping(ground service). I couldn't find the NGK's V-Power type anywhere around here at the local part stores. If you got the V-Power plugs (8) for $12.50, good buy..

I'm looking for info too but I did read on a mod site that copper are best for performance but wear out faster (is that a problem) and that platinum plugs are purely for long wear life i.e. the reason the factory installs them

Is this the case???
