Default LS1 to LS6 intake swap question

What all exactly would need to be bought for an LS1 to LS6 intake swap on a 2000 Z28 ? I often see people asking if the "MAP senson is included" when they see one for sale in the parts classified section. Do I need a new MAP sensor for my 2000 or what is the deal with that ? Also I often see a big braided line running across the front top of the intake that I think looks really nice. Is that braded fuel lines or what ? and if so where would be the best place to get a kit like that ? Will my fuel rails work with the LS6 intake ? Thanks!

When I did my swap Everything just crossed over. Only thing I bought was a gasket kit for $20 from Orielly's or Auto Zone. If you are not planning on grinding the ribs down on the LS6 intake you will need to buy the coolant cross over kit. I think a few sponsers on here sell them such as Texas-Speed, it's like $50. I just chiseled off the ribs though as I heard doing the coolant cross over can mess up cylinder number 7 or some crap, someone else can chime in on that. I didn't need a new map sensor btw and mine was a 2000.

I have a "how to install intake manifold video" in my sig but the vids are down right now. I have heard of some people getting the part 2 video to work. I should have both vids up and running next week.

When ordering, in most cases just be sure it has a MAP, the gaskets, and the cross over tubes (unless you want to chisel the bottom of your intake. I was lazy and chose not too). Everything else basically just bolts up to it from the ls1 intake.

Also depends on if you have air or egr still. I've a 99, but was lucky the previous owner already deleted those. Not sure if the 00's have that issue or not.

I'm looking to just buy a used one when I find a nice one here on the board. So as far as the MAP goes, that's why I'm trying to find out if I need to make sure it has one with it or if my 00 MAP will work and be just fine. I will be chiseling the ribs down and I have already deleted A.I.R and EGR on my car.

Some older threads on here say the MAP should swap over as well. Worth a shot if you don't mind some down time and a trip to a dealership for a replacement just in case.

Curious, I have the coolant bypass free mod done on my car now. Is this what your talking about or something completely different ?

Different. That mod is for the throttle body.

When you pull up your intake, you will see a silver tube that connects in an curvy I shape from the front of your engine to the rear. Because of the shape of the ls6 bottom, those tubes don't fit properly (without chiseling the tabs off the ls6). So they have a coolant tube cross over which basically plugs the rear coolant slots and has a more pronounced bend in the front tube to clear the intake.

Just google some ls6 intake kits and you should find what we mean by the coolant cross over. or watch Blue's video on the install and he shows the tube somewhere in there.

OK so that answers that.

Now on to this. Fuel line or what and is there a nice kit available somewhere for it ?

Hard to say without a picture you are refering too. It could be anything from a fuel line to a nitrous set up to any number of other things. Most anything can have braided lines, heck your entire engine bay could be a massive tangle of them.

As for kits, not so sure. There isn't that much to it though, just need the proper fittings, the line in the correct size, and a few hours depending on what you are doing.

You do not need to replace the fuel lines unless you want to. The MAP sensor can be reused, I mentioned it on mine so people knew they were getting one as well whereas others were listing a bare LS6 intake for cheaper price.
As already mentioned, you can get the LS6 style coolant lines or grind down the tabs on the bottom of the intake, but if you ever plan on upgrading to a FAST intake, you will need the LS6 coolant lines. The FAST intakes can not be grinded down.
Also while you have the intake off, you might as well do the LS6 PCV conversion too (less than $100) and will cut down on oil consumption.

What about intake bolts ? Just use the bolts from my LS1 intake, get new intake bolts from GM, or new ARP intake bolts ?

Do I just go to my local parts store and ask for LS1 or LS6 intake manifold gaskets or do I HAVE to ask for LS6 gaskets ? Or are the gaskets the same for LS1 and LS6 intakes ?

According to felpro the part numbers for an intake manifold gasket on a 99 Camaro and a 02 Camaro are the same, so it should be the same gasket.

The intake bolts all the same. just chisel down the ribs needed to clear the coolant lines. You might get lucky and ur ls6 intake will come with gaskets in good shape . watch when you are pulling the ls1 intake off because ur brake booster line runs behind the oil pressure switch and u will snap it in half (like i did) if ur not careful guiding it through as ur sliding it out.

Just do your research
