Question What is the best exhaust (hp+sound)

What is the best exhaust (cat back+ y-pipe) header if it is needed for stock SS 2002 so that give me more than 30 hp and great sound. What is the name for this exhausts in this pic it looks awesome. And what other mods for the engine can I put so that doesn’t affect the engine in shot term(less than 7 years).

Thx

The factory system is pretty efficient. None of the systems will get you 30 hp by themselves.

If you are going to keep the factory exhaust manifolds. then the SLP Y-pipe is a s good as any. The GMMG sound can't be beat. Corsa is good to.

Other easy bolt on mods: Air lid, K&N filter, Ported Throttle body, Pulley, Headers, Engine tuning (Hypertech Power Programmer 3 or LS1edit)

i like my borla but i dont have a y-pipe so i cant comment on one of those. my borla doesnt have a plate in it and the interior noise is pretty light for a wide open exhaust and it sounds badass at WOT. no matter what anyone says BE SURE to ride in a car with a loudmouth before buying it. i was contemplating a LM because its cheap and i wanted loud but the interior noise is horrid with the LM although it does flow the most. id say its 50 percent louder on the outside of the car than my borla but its 2 to 3 times louder on the inside. all the catbacks will give you about equal power though especially at the bolton level.

Horrid, come on. At local car shows people love it. It gets the vote over Borla with no plates EVERY time. Horrid=your too old.I dont get interior noise or all the other vibrations and resonence people talk about. Its the best sounding over all IF you like Muscle car sound. Horrid,I think not

I have the loudmouth and like it, sounds good inside to me, but the GMMG does sound better. And that pic you posted is SS LS1's car with a GMMG modified to the SLP CME (I think)

The Loud mouth is the best flowing Exhaust out there, but the interior noise sucks..GMMG does good on a stock car but gives up power on H/C cars..Corsa flow's real good and only gives up 1hp over a cutout. No Catback will give you 30hp.Put a catback and headers with ORP and you'll get 30hp.Also tuning a 02 car with Edit or so will give you 15-20hp without any mechanical changes.

there is no "best", PERIOD. if there was we'd all be running it. sound is objective. buy what sounds good to you.

I would go with the sound as opposed to the power. The exhaust will not give you enough power to where you'd feel the difference anyways. If you want a bubbly sound, Borla. If you want loud, Loudmouth. If you want bubbly and loud go with GMMG. GMMG consists of 2 chambered pipes - the chambered area of the pipes create a unique crisp bubbly sound and tone.

Have you ever tested a heads/cam car with cutout Vs GMMG?? I picked up ONE RWHP with a cutout over a GMMG. I know SEVERAL others who have also gained nothing with a cutout over the GMMG. Not being a *****, just stating fact. The GMMG flows awesome, and is one of the better sounding exhausts on the market. Personal preference is all it comes down to.

I think the Hooker catback is the best sounding, with or without headers, with or without cats, one of the best flowing, at a great price! That is what I am getting. I think you can get the Hooker catback and be pleased that you still have money left for other mods.

derek

The Hooker sounds awesome with longtubes, but is awful quiet with the stock manifolds. I've never heard an exhaust I liked better than LT + ORY + Hooker catback...

I'll put in another vote for the GMMG. I love the sound of this exhaust, and I cannot wait for longtubes. Plus, its is BY FAR the best looking when you polish it! If money is a factor, hooker seems to be the best, sounds real nice, good power, and you can pop off the muffler as easy as a cutout. Haven't heard the Corsa on an F-body, but I do not like the Corsa on my fathers Z06.
