Default Bolt-on's - which one next?

Guys, pretty much as soon as I bought my 2001 Z28 I fitted a SLP lid and GMMG catback and then did nothing more for a couple of years until a few weeks ago when I had LT's fitted and then a dyno tune done.

I'm now thinking that I should look at some of the other bolt-on's but am not sure which ones are considered most worthwhile doing. I was thinking maybe a ported throttle body. Would that be next on your list and, if so, would it make sense to do smooth bellows too?

P/P throttle body, smooth bellows and a LS6 intake would get you a pretty decent gain in power

Thanks for the reply. Already got the LS6 intake as that came already fitted as standard on my '01. Looks like the throttle body and bellows would make sense then and not too expensive either.

A converter is the best bang for your buck IMO

At the wheels figures were 369.4 hp and 389.5 Ft Lb torque. The pre-tune figures were both about 20 less. That was on a Dyno Dynamics dyno. Before the LT's it made 299 rwhp (different dyno unfortunately).

Yeah, I've heard that said a lot before, but have always been concerned about how it would affect driveability and (to a lesser extent) mileage - my car's a daily driver.

It won't affect your drivability as long as you don't go too drastic. Get you one around 3500 and you won't regret it. It will make the car a lot more fun to drive. As far as gas mileage, you probably won't even see a difference.

As good as a converter is, for the cost you could just finish out the engine bay bolt ons and still retain a stock like ride. That and unless he has an idea of the route he ultimately wants to go, the last thing he'd want is a converter at one stall just to find out that he purchased one to high/low for his needs.

So I'd say p&p the throttle body and possible the MAF ends, a smooth bellows is fine as long as you do the $4 home depot mod but not necessary, and an under drive pulley with new belts. That would more or less finish out your engine bay bolt on wise until you decide to do heads/cam and possibly upgrade to a better intake.

Your next mod should be TC. P&P tb, ud pulley , bellows and such won't equal the gains a quality torque converter will. Do that and then finish up the little nick nacks.

Get the fast toys ram air kit. That will get you more air in for sure. It is an awesome kit.

I think a stall would be a reallly good gain. I either want to get the circle D 2800 stall or the Circle D 3200, but I cant decide. I really don't want my tranny to get hot and I don't want it to go into limp mode lol

I would get a underdrive ($250 w/ belts), chrs1313 ram air ($200), smooth bellow from home depot($4) and a ported throttle body ($50). Should gain around 12-15rwhp.

If your more serious and planning on doing a converter, I would go with at least a yank ss3200 or you would be leaving a lot on the table. I only lost about 1mpg going from the stocker and after a day it's not even noticable, after a month it just seems normal as far as drivability.

Don't get a FAST intake yet or you won't see any gain and be out a grand. You would need good heads and a mild-big cam to take advantage of a FAST.

I'm at the point where you are but I'm a M6 so the converter is out of the question. I'm getting gears next. I'd recommend 3.73's for you. My wife's Z28 A4 with 3.73's has great acceleration and still pulls 25mpg city, (she NEVER goes WOT). I'd say u/d pulley next after that with the FTRA. That's my plan so I just applied it to your car, lol.

Well, I guess that would make sense for me as I have the 2.73 ratio gears. It's pretty good to be doing 80mph at just 2k rpm, but I'd sacrifice some of that for extra grunt lower down.
