What is the deal with the 85mm MAF?
per airflow differs from stock (& expected by the PCM)
calibration. Usually, leaner because doing this increases
spark advance and the '98s were tuned fat from the
factory and it helped. But too much of a good thing,
or somebody else's good thing, might not be your
good thing and just make you ping.
If you were tuned up right with the stock MAF, then
most aftermarket ones will take you away from ideal.
Because the increased airflow is less of a bonus than
detuning costs you, you can lose power. At least,
until you tune it in properly (which unfortunately is
not just a turn of the screwdriver, for most).

An 85mm descreened MAF WILL flow more air than the stocker. If you tune with LS1edit for it so your a/f doesn't get thrown off, you will gain power. If you expect to just bolt it on and go, then you'll probably be disappointed.

Can anyone confirm this?
Since my car was tuned with Edit with the SLP unit and the electronic connection (resistor?) I assume there is no point in removing it now...
any thoughts?
