Tuning for a cutout ?

If I add a cutout to my Trans Am on my mail order tune not set up for the cutout will I hurt anything? Thanks

depends on where the cut out is. if you put it in the i-pipe just before the axle then you'll be fine. if you put two cut outs just behind each collector then you might consider a retune. will it hurt anything? no. could you possibly capitalize on the gains? yes. so it's really up to you.

I have found that when tuned up tight for closed cutout,
I can hear ping and get light KR with the cutout open.
I recommend you tune it with the cutout open, or at least
check it out before you call the timing table done.

I had planned on putting an electric one right after the Y toward the front of the car but I really don't know if I can even get it in there. I dunno if I can put one on each side and it clear the floorboards. Would putting it at the end of the I pipe help anything? Or where would be the best place for it ?

My cutout is just in front of the rear at the end of the pipe. I have always tuned my car for a closed cutout. I have never had a problem or any kr at all. we have always made dyno pulls with it open after the tune was done. It didn't change so much that the motor could be hurt. You don't need to re-tune to open your cutout in the location where i have it.
