Default SLP Lid Fitment!!!

So I put my lid on about a 2 weeks ago, back side didnt look like it fit too well but there were no air leaks. So I popped the hood today and one of the clips had popped off and wasnt pulling the lid closed. My dad suggested I use duct tape to hold the clips but i dont want it to look a bit trashy when i open the hood. Anyone have this issure too? Anyone to fix? Should I send it back because its a crap mold? Thanks

Dads seem to love duct tape. Make sure the lid is all the way back and down. I drove around for a year without my lid down all the way. The clips will fit better.

try loosening all the clamps on your intake setup (lid, maf, bellow, tb) to take all of the "preload" out and adjust until the clips close and then tighting everything back down

What these guys ^ said. Those clips should not be under too much pressure- they won't hold- and this indicates that the lid is not situated far enough back. Look carefully at the leading edge of the lid, it needs to go back behind the lower air box tray lip in the centre, if I remember correctly. I had the same "issue" when I replaced my factory lid at first, as well. The lid fits well, after some minor fiddling.

The front lip of the lid needs to go in the air box. It will never stay latched if you don't install it this way.

The clips loosen up over time. What I did: cut a 1" piece of 3/8 hose, then cut it lengthwise, then put the pieces underneath the clamps where they hook over the lid, it will pull it down like it should and the pieces will set into the shape after awhile.

I was thinking I shuld probably loosen all my clamps through all the intake and see if I can slide it back any. Cuz I think it is pushing on my lid a little bit

make sure the little dicks fit all the way in the back, and the front lip goes inside. mine fits perfect. i noticed after a few heat cycles it liked to fit this way better. i can see if you installing incorrectly and it heats up it can deform it the wrong way.

My SLP lid fits great. Just had everything loose all the way to the throttle body while installing it.

The first SLP lid I purchased for my Z a few years ago fit great. It didnt have sealing issues and never came off. It did rub my hood a little but I could clean it and bam, no problem. So I bought another one for the Ws6 just recently and I def should NOT have. I dunno if it was just old or sat in storage for a long time but man it did not want to go on for ****. It didnt even want to fit onto the front of the MAF, I had to dremel and sand down the inside lip to fit it onto there as if the opening on the lid was not even big enough to go on. Then when I had to fit it flush on the car and clip it in, one side def seals better in the back.
I felt like I paid for a quality slp product the second time and got the china "slc" version instead....
And it obviously wasn't anything I was doing wrong as the first time around, the lid was fine and I always wondered why people had such issues with these things...
They must have two machines that make them and one works like **** or something because it seems so hit or miss with these things.

I pushed it all the way back then clipped it and it fits a bit better I just feel like there is a gap on the backside and i can see the filter rubber through the back side. Maybe another paper filter will make it fit and look better. but it looks like the pic up top now but the backside is still a bit iffy for me
