Default ls6 intake swap

I know its been beaten to death probably, but I searched and couldn't find what I was looking for, so here goes:
Found an ls6 intake for my 99 z28 vert. I know I can reuse the water lines if I remove the checkerboard on the bottom of the intake. Can I also reuse my fuel rails and injectors? Throttle body? Planning on replacing the orings on the head side, do I need to replace the tb oring too? What about the screws that hold the intake down, reuse them too? Anything else I need to know? Thanks for your patience.

A few tips for you, get a couple rubber bands, when you get the back bolts loose they wont come out all the way, not enuff room, so put the rubber bands around them and hold them up using the fuel rail, you dont want them falling down when you remove the intake. also when you are ready to pull the intake out, LIFT IT UP and then slide out. IF YOU DONT you will break your oil pressure sending unit. hope this helps

New gaskets never hurt, old gaskets can still be good. I just have a habit of using new gaskets on everything for piece of mind. Better to do it than use an old one that can potentially leak. Same can be said about toilet paper... WHAT?

All jokes aside though, it should be a pretty simple swap. There's a how-to on LS1howto that includes parts necessary as well as GM P/N's.

Thanks, guys. We're new to LS1 stuff. Was a long time Mopar guy. Love my 99 vert. Its going to get lts, ory, the ls6 intake, and a 224r cam to go along with its 4.10 9 inch rear and 2800 converter.

You'll barely notice the 2800 converter. Most engines like big converters, like 4000

Not for a street car fairly common

I used all the stock stuff when I had my 98z. I used a hammer and chizel to knockoff all the ribs on the bottom. Be careful when you get the intake out theres a oil sending unit on the back side of the engine and you dont wanna break it. Also use a torque wrench on the intake bolts because they dont get alot of torque. How do I know? Cause I snapped one before I put a torque wrench on the bolt. Then I had to drill it out which was easy but still, you dont want that.
Heres a pic of the oil sending unit behind the intake. Its hard to see but look closely on the left side of the connector on the back of the intake. Its a black cylinder looking thing

As far as the converter goes, with a stock motor it works fantastically. Not building a race car, just want to make sure I can stay ahead of the new 5.0 Mustangs and such. Without the cam, headers, and intake, the car runs 12.80 @108 with 2.32 60' (street tires), so I figure with good drag radials it should be good for low 12's and the new parts should put it well into the 11's and still be able to be driven anywhere.

No, the 12.80 was with a 3.73 geared 7.5 rear. The 9 inch is sitting quietly in the garage waiting for warmer weather to do the change over. Its a bolt in for F bodies and I snagged it for $700. Complete with calipers and discs.

Yeah I'm looking forward to it, I wanted to swap it when I did my circle d converter install but didn't come across a good deal on an ls6 intake at the time.

If the intake's never been off before, then even if you lift it when you pull it out there's a good chance you break the oil pressure sender. What I did is pull the intake out far enough to reach in back, then used a knife to cut off the brake booster hose close to where it attaches to the intake. I got some 1/2" hose and a barb connector to patch the hose back up, in fact made it longer so it could go over the other crap back there when I put the intake back.

I'm going to just remove the oil pressure sensor. Its only a few months old and I already have the special socket (from previously breaking the original sensor).
