Default LS6 or BBK intake

I have a bbk85mm throttle body and am in the market to upgrade from my ls1 intake. Which would be better the matching bbk intake or an ls6,seems like the ls6 opening would be a mismatch to the throttlebody. Any advice?

Your opening up a can of worms you do not want to get into. People will say LS6 is better and some will say BBK SSI is better. People are going to bring up the "heat soak" issue, but all in all do you own research on it.

If I was in your shoes I would match up throttle body to manifold. Right now I have BBK SSI intake manifold and a stock ported throttle body and I havent noticed any issues with the BBK.

The BBK is a great intake after a little work. Its a middle of the road intake between the LS6 and FAST. Heat soak is for people who have no real world results. At the track my MPH stayed the same when hot or cold and on the dyno the numbers never changed. Biggest issue is making sure the intake is sealed to the heads. If you heads have been milled the intake will need some clearancing cause it will hit the small, top head bolts. You will also need some button head valley cover bolts. Have the intake cleaned up and port matched and you will be pleased.

Thanks for replies guys. I was leaning towards bbk. What loss would are problems would be had if using the 85mm tb on an ls6 intake.

The BBK is alot cheaper brand new, looks much better, and makes the same numbers.

post up your improvement in et when you get them. i'd like to see that. i actually found a used ls6 intake on this site and got it. maybe i can port that intake to fit the 85mm TB. guess i have to now. the deal on the bbk intake i was making fell through when the seller on this site pulled the deal.

I'm sorry but I had to chime in. I just bought a bbk as well and I gotta say that unless you're making your living off of racing the FAST is an over priced piece of ****!! The people that create it are obviously greedy ******** with no real concern for the average consumer. Consider hp to $$$ ratio over the ls6 or bbk and say **** FAST!!!
