Default NGK Iridium IX Spark Plugs?

Getting ready to install my LT's and ORY, so I thought it might be a good idea to go ahead and change my plugs and wires. I've heard good things about NGK's Iridium plugs, but are they really any better than platinum or copper? Also need some advice on wires and which ones to choose...MSD, Taylor, any suggestions?

Iridium is better than platinum and copper. However do you really need something better than copper? Most people will tell you no. I have the regular NGK-55's and they work fine for me. I might need to change them sooner than I would Iridium though.

I have Denso Iridiums. Don't know why I put them in originally, only it was a NEWBIE mistake. If I knew then, what I know now i would have installed NGK TR-55's
Just install the '55's, save the other money for other mods.

I had Denso Iridiums for awhile a couple years ago when I was spraying the hell out of my car, worked well. but as soon as I quit spraying I went back to TR55's.

Well...I don't plan on spraying or running boost anytime soon, so I'll just go with the NGK TR55's

Anybody got suggestions on plug wires???

I have the TR55 IX, I installed them with a set of MSD wires. The cars feels like new again, and it evened out my idle some. I'm sure the TR55's are just as good, I just didnt wanna change em that often

Well I am taking out my TR55IX plugs and replacing them with TR55s tomorrow. They still foul out and go bad. Not worth the money in my opinion.

From what I know MSD or Magnecor. I'm getting ready to change the plugs and wires. Already have the TR55s. Just waiting to decide on either of those two wires. Still don't know yet. Anyone have any input on that? I figure there really couldn't be that much of a difference...at least on a N/A machine. I think I'm gonna get the MSD wires. Still open to any input someone could give though.

Thanks in advance,

Justin

I got the NGK Iri's, I didnt have any KR on the dyno runs with my new cam, car runs great and from what I have learned is that they last Longer then Plates and spark hotter then copper. Alot of turbo guys i know run them and mostly all sport bikes run them so they must be doing something right.

I have MSD wires and am VERY VERY happy with them. Other people have had problems with wires pulling apart but after 45K miles and MANY MANY times of putting them on and taking them off, they are still good as new (basically). I'm relocating the coil packs off the heads so won't be using THESE wires anymore, but I'm still going to be using MSD wires (making a custom length set).

For the Denso's: too freaking much. I spent $110.00, yes $13.75 per plug for them. Like I said before, NEWBIE mistake. The guy behind the counter, (I got them at Autozone when they first came out), thought it was a price mistake! ( I guess not too many ricers were buying these things yet) He called the manager over and they had to call and check with the distributer or wharehouse on the actual price. I didn't say a word during this ordeal, I hoped that maybe, they'd fix the price for me.

The advantage of the iridium plugs is that they will last longer than copper, and longer than platinum. So you hardly ever have to change them. That's why I bought them.

There is no performance advantage, it's just a maintenance issue. If you've got enough to do without changing spark plugs every 30K miles, buy the iridiums.

Mine were $5 something a piece. Just like those cheesy splitfires were back in the day.
