Default Difference in TB through years?

So I bought a LS6 intake manifold that came with a throttle body, I had the bright idea to port the throttle body that came with it, took my about a week working on it off and on, anyway, on going to swap my stock one out for it, I find the piece the throttle cable goes to, is a different size, its bigger, so when I hook the throttle cable up, the blade doesn't close all the way. Just curious if there was a difference through the years. It was a giant waste of time.
I have pictures but I can't post them using the computer I'm on. I'll try and get them on later.
Thanks
C.

The throttle body on the earlier cars (97 & 98?) had a smaller cam. Not sure if you can swap cams with the throttle body on the car. I'm sure someone with more experience will chime in.

Here are some photo's, the first is the ported one I did, the bigger one. The second is the stock one I pulled off my car, as you can tell its smaller. The third is a picture of how far the throttle blade remains open with the throttle cable hooked up on the ported TB.

The two cams seem to have roughly identical draw length
but a different angle per draw profile. I have swapped
them around and found no difference other than this.
But if you were over-snugged, the early years' greater
initial angle per draw would show it more.

You've lost me, to me the two cams look really different. Ill get a side by side photo tomorrow that'll show it better. It just ticked me off that I can't use it.

A buddy had a 98 TA, he swapped the TB off an '02. When he was tuneing he was told to go WOT. He said he was. The tuner informed him the computer wass only reading 3/4 throttle. After checking he found out that the cams are differnt. After he changed the cable it worked fine.

BTW, the porting looks pretty good.

Looks like you just need the throttle cable from a car of the same year as your intake. This is why we have been blessed with auto parts stores and mail-order services.

You can swap the shafts between early & late LS1 TBs.
Cam is staked onto the shaft. You just have to get the
blade & TPS off,and pop it with a brass drift.
