Default Should I kill the cats?

So I picked up a Magnaflow catback and I have some LT headers that I want to throw on here shortly. I cannot decide if I should run cats or not.

My first priority is a good sounding exhaust. Don't want a ton of rasp or drone. I also do not want to smell like gas after a trip. I am running exhaust all the way out the back. I was thinking I could save a couple hundred bucks by killing the cats.

I am looking for a nice stainless y-pipe. (If anyone has any suggestions.) I like the mufflex set up but I want stainless.

I had also seen the GMMG thread about throwing the powerstick in the I-Pipe and I was also wondering if that would be a good subsitute for not running cats.

I'm a newb on the tech tip guys... lol Cut me some slack!!!

If you don't want rasp or drone, cats is the way to go. A catted y-pipe is expensive though. I just ordered one from TSP for $350.

Kill em. Theres other ways to get rid of rasp.(good merge in the y-pipe/bullet in the I pipe.) And if the exhaust runs out the back, and doesnt leak bad, then you wont have to worry about the smell.

smell with a Y pipe to the end of the car is almost not noticeable. as for the cats, it depends. rasp can be removed as bluebird said but if you dont have emission issues then just save the money and go ory with bullet in the I pipe. you can always get a custom made Y that looks and fit awesome for a fair price. good luck

I have 1 7/8" LT's, no cats, custom Y, back to a Magnaflow muffler. No drone, no rasp. Sounds rather nice, not too loud under casual throttle.....but sounds like pure evil when I get into it.

I would kill the cats if there are no emission issues. My headers have resonators that look like cats coming of both headers and then to magnaflow catback. No rasp. A cutout is recommended.

Killem! I have magna-flows no cats and the sound is really good. I put a
E- cut out in and it sounds like a freakn drag car when you want it to! Smell is a little noticeable but not bad unless you are sittin in bad stop and go traffic.

If you kill the cats, I am afraid I will have to rat you out to the kitty kat commandos. They're a rough bunch to deal with.

Dont kill em...its a pain when inspection time comes and when your in traffic it will stink everyone out. The crackle when you let off is annoying too.
