Default Got the 1 7/8 Hooker Headers installed

Below is dyno overlay. Some items to be taken into account...

1.This was done in 95+ degree weather the other one during the winter time
2. Replaced the Macs (1 3/4) and y pipe with Random Tech cats with Hooker headers(1 7/8) and y pipe with Magnaflow cats.
3. The merge is a flow master piece.
4. After the car was picked up the converter would not lock up, so had it fixed. The lock up clutch and a bearing went out.

Wow, it's interesting to see the mac mids outperform
the hooker 1-7/8" headers up to 5200 rpm.
How did they compare from idle to 4000 rpm?

I wonder how much the temperatures affected the numbers.

WOW! I am glad I stayed 1 3/4 and didn't spend the coin to rip my LTs off and go bigger.

Thank you for this thread!!

interesting... think it was worth your money? I'd kinda like to see the same before and after graphs, but without cats... I wonder if there would be any more of a difference

I doubt it, those RT cats are the best, maybe 1-2HP? Magnaflows are prolly about the same. I say they are a wash.

Going to the track tonight hopefully, that will be the real test. I think it was worth the money. It allows for more cubic inches in the future and also got rid of the rasp of the Macs.

So, the after upgrade to 1-7/8 headers dyno test was done in the +95 degree day?

If so, we can assume the HP/TQ gains from the larger headers would be more if the dyno test was also done in the winter.

I don't believe the lockup would change the results as it doesn't 't engage during WOT acceleration.

I agree, it's a worthwhile upgrade, especially as you're gonna go to more cubes and (of course) a cam. That's a nice looking merge, is there a pic of it's insides?

No pics of the merge inside and it has a cam in it

Unsure of this but if the converter was slipping wouldn't this show in the dyno also?

Most high flow cats really don't cost any HP, the reason why people don't get them is because of how costly they are. And since they don't add power most people just go ORY. And OP looks like a clean setup!

I see, thanks for clarifying. I didn't know how restrictive the cats were, or well weren't, haha.

Went to the track tonight. Ran 12.15 @ 112, not too bad. I knew that my tires were marginal with the 2800vig now with a 3500 won't hold. Did cut a 1.78 but still slipped the tires. It was very hot and humid. Looks like a better set of tires is the next mod.

kinda interesting thread, but do you think the tires (and bad weather) really accounted for the loss in trap speed and 2 tenths on ur time? I was gonna go with TSP 1 7/8 but went cheap and went with pacesetters, so this is kind of interesting to me.

The tires were slipping pretty bad. The time I posted in my sig is from a perfect weather night in 50 degree weather. My car has always been very tempermental with major weather changes. Last year at Super Chevy with the same weather and dead hooking I was running 12.2-12.4.
